Listening to these songs I can only do at certain times. If I listen to them when I am not in a good headspace, I will spiral. It sucks because literal thousands years + an entirely new life has changed me since then, but it still affects me. Those emotions are still in me and it's... strange. - Jasper

(the rest of this post got a bit long unexpectedly, so feel free to read on but warning it has some details on my trauma from our Steven universe canon revolving Earth, the war for it, and Pink Diamond/Rose, so read at your own risk)

It is a bit hard having Cherry here. I love her, and we've started to get more comfy, but she's so much... easy going, more chill, more optimistic than me. Mainly because she never went through all the traumatic things I have in that canon.

She's fought in battles and is the commander killer of course, she's shattered plenty of crystal gems during the Earth war, but that's where she's stuck. The glory days of being Pink Diamond's head commander who Pink thinks is beautiful and powerful, with the mindset of "as long as I protect Pink Diamond and her colony, she'll love me and things will be perfect". Which uh... is not how it went, if anyone needs reminding.

I have not talked to Cherry in depth about my own experiences, and I am kind of glad source does not include the depths of my trauma revolving around Pink. There's hints, but nothing to the depths of it. Although, I fear Cherry wouldn't even see herself in our source counterpart, since that's after centuries of conditioning, blame, self hatred, and rage got to me. That's so different from her that I fear she won't even see herself in me.

I do plan to talk to her about it eventually. I think she already kind of knows due to our memories as a system being... kind of blurry. But we haven't discussed it yet. I am a bit nervous to, tbh. - Jasper
