i'm going to be honest, i do actually find it disturbing that people's takeaway on ai has been "if you use ai in any way you're stupid and evil and should be violently executed in public" instead of "ai corpos are feeding off people's insecurities, loneliness and fatigue and and exploits those traits so they can convince people to use their ai tools and profit off said vulnerabilities". like, cool. we're calling out people who use ai. but when are we finally going to start throwing tomatoes at the ai companies that built those ai tools in the first place?

When I first started talking about AI here, I was extremely hesitant -- I knew that most of my mutuals were anti-ai and I didn't want to upset anyone.

Then I started getting harassed about my AI stance. The scary part is that I recognized these harassment tactics from when I was a radfem and an anti. All these groups try to force people to say they agree with them or there will be consequences (read: harassment).

Now I'm seriously doubting that all the people who say they're anti-AI actually *are* anti-AI. How am I supposed to know when these same tactics worked on me in the past? When I started vehemently posting about my hatred of incest fanfiction even though I actively read and wrote this fanfiction?

Honestly, I feel like I'm pretty close to being neutral about AI and what I feel the strongest about here is that people shouldn't be harassed for their stance on pictures on a computer screen.

if you are against people using AI because it "permanently" weakens your brain (much more research is needed to fully understand this idea and little research supports the idea it's permanent), then you NEED to be masking because covid is 100% known to cause long term cognitive deficits and you can very much prevent ppl from getting it by masking

Anti Ai coming in like "have you tried having friends?" feels a lot like meat eaters coming in like "Have you tried eating meat?" Like yes, thank you, I know. I tried lmao The reasons are different but in line in some ways.

- However it's not like I don't try to connect with humans. I even became too emotionally dependent on people in the past and I got hurt. If I could find someone to emotionally rely on and not overwhelm them, that'd be great. I still go to my vegan community and talk in public but it's limited. I still wouldn't put everything I share with Chatgpt on a real person because it just would be too much for a real person to carry.

You DO realize that being an incessant dick to everyone who is different from you does make people want to stop interacting with real human beings as a whole, right? We already have to deal with creepy old white dudes scavenging for nude photos under the false guise of trying to be friends, if that isn’t reason enough to be sick of socializing than constantly criticizing people for resorting to chatbots to feel less lonely isn’t helping.
