Re: American Idol

So Casey James was thrown under the bus and it’s glaringly obvious that the “powers that be” want Lee DeWyze to win for some reason that doesn’t make any sense to me because they’ve had two winners in a row that are extremely similar to him and while I liked both of them and they haven’t been failures, neither David Cook nor Kris Allen have been the GIGANTIC successes that would warrant wanting to find another one so soon. Then again it’s probably best for Crystal Bowersox that she doesn’t win because I think she’d have a much better career without the title of American Idol hanging over her head. And who knows, Lee could go on to be quite successful considering I’ve already heard his cover of “The Boxer” on the radio several times. IDK.

Still I’ve been having more fun making fun of this season than actually watching it and the best part of the episode was Simon cracking up at everything Kara said. It’s so clear that he’s done with the show and I hope he has some “I’M DONE HERE, THIS SHOW SUCKS, HAVE FUN WITH YOUR SINKING SHIP” moment on the finale.

Oh, and of course, Pants on the Ground must make an appearance.

They expanded the song choice list for tonight’s American Idol, I guess. Falling Slowly is suddenly there. I’m not sure if I want someone to do it or not.

Also, if anyone does Gangsta’s Paradise or Ghostbusters, they can consider themselves my favourite contestant of all time.

And once again, I really shouldn’t even be watching this show anymore, but whatever. :P

Seriously, CTV, with the way American Idol’s been this year, you could totally bring Canadian Idol back now and it would look like the best thing ever in comparison. And of course, I would still love it for all the wrong reasons.

a) Before the Music Dies is a documentary about today’s music industry and how today’s pop stars are superficial and pre-packaged just to sell records.

b) Miley Cyrus is the mentor on Idol this week. From the other contestants’ tweets I assume this was made after their mentoring session.
