some of my canon compliant marauders headcanons:
1. everyone wants to be james, but james would give everything to be literally anyone else
2. effie and monty actually werent that accepting of james when he came out, and even when they 'warmed up' theyd make backhanded remarks
3. walburga never wanted kids
4. walburga loved sirius and regulus but it was always overshadowed by her hatred of them for ruining her life and making her into her mother.
5. for a long time sirius wished he was like regulus just so his parents would like him. by long time, i mean till like 15/16. and even after he left there was a small part of him that really just wanted to be loved by his mother and father
6. regulus wanted to be sirius till he died.
7. barty's father and mother were in love but his father didnt like him, at all.
8. barty was trans masc.
9. after lily left for hogwarts, petunia slowly started turning their parents against lily until when she was 16, she got properly cut off from them. as in, no letters, no allowance, nothing. this was part of the reason her and james married so quickly.
10. sirius loved the idea of jegulus because he couldnt trust anyone else with james or regulus but hated it because his entire life, these were the only two people he was second to and now it felt like they were choosing the other above him again.
11. peter pettigrew loved to be high.
12. there was a time after james' break up with regulus and relationship with lily where his selfesteem was so low that hed let anyone who looked at him twice sleep with him, and even got into an abusive relationship for a short while
13. marlene always dyed her hair, it was as retaliation to her dad who always prattled on about how a lady has virgin, long, and straight hair.
14. after reg, barty, and evan got the dark mark and pandora chose to be a mediator, dorcas fell into deep depression and considered herslef the worst of mankind for not seeing the signs sooner.
15. the first person in the order to doubt dumbledore was dorcas, her and marlene often fighted about it.
16. peter was so in love with james that it turned into hatred
17. peter was the one who convinced sirius that remus was the spy and convinced remus that sirius was the spy.
18. sirius blamed himself for james and lily's deaths because he was the one to suggest the keeper change.
19. marlene died trying to defend her father who was in the middle of a DE attack.
20. james and lily fell out of love shortly after their marriage
21. harry was born not as a mistake but because of pressure from james' parents and his own guilt for not being a good enough son.
22. pandora promised regulus in 1st year that if he died, shed kill herself because he was her first friend and she didnt see a point in life if he wasnt there
23. after pandora found out that regulus died, she started experimenting every day with dangerous ingredients in hopes that one wring experiment would kill her because the idea of actually comitting was scary.
24. after the prank, sirius tried to kill himself
25. in the events leading up to the prank, sirius was caught and drugged. when he was making his way back to the dorms he realised that he made a huge mistake, and his instincts came into play. so, like he would with his parents (hed make a mistake, even if it was truly a mistake, hed still act proud of it so they couldnt say that all he does is fuck up) and laughed when telling james.
