I forced myself to skim-read the Observer's Asma article (about what a ruthless, greedy, heartless bitch she was, like every First Lady of a socialist, communist, or anti-imperialist country is always portrayed to be) and a lot of it was painful

She somehow organised her family's 'cowardly running away' while basically dying of leukaemia (now fully recovered)

I love the family connection, as you well know, but I've never seen proof of it and it was before they were married? That wouldn't happen in Arab culture, would it? (Happy to be corrected)

Muammar giving post-wedding marriage tips to his honorary nephew? Honestly, likely. But bringing Asma along for a visit, pre-marriage, and I don't think Muammar and Bashar reunited pre-Bashar presidency, after Bashar's childhood meeting with him...

(We could've been on the third generation by now but I digress)

Asma and Aisha both attended a First Ladies' conference for Gaza in Istanbul, but based on the photos out there from that day, they didn't talk. Asma seemed to spend most of the day hanging out with Emine Erdogan (that went well...)

Referring to a 2016 interview Asma did with RT. I think the family flitting between Russia and the UAE might be the most truthful bit of the article, given how Bassel al-Shawkat was constantly moving between the two. As for the rest of it, I'm doubtful (like Karim's Chinese business interests)
