The library was quiet, broken only by the hushed sounds of feet on the carpeting and the soft flipping of pages. You sat in a semi-comfortable leather chair in a hidden nook behind a few shelves; not-so-subtly listening in on a whispered conversation from two people sitting at a table. People-watching was a bit of a pastime for you, but in this instance, it wasn’t strangers you were watching. It was a pair of girls you had considered your friends, once. Now, they were nothing but antagonizers, currently gossiping about you behind your back when they thought you weren’t around. Funny thing was, you were around. And your scowl deepened as you listen to their traitorous words spilling from their lips like poison.
