This one gets points for realism, at the start. Then it gets more entertaining and less realistic. Every single character introduced is nuts. The art is amazing. The happy ending feels well deserved. Just a bit unexpected considering how dark the setting is.
Here's the basics:
Now, on to the details.
It's not really what it looks like. Kojima and Daimon are not sexy stereotypical hot guys with fetish needs. Daimon is able to move on from his screwed up childhood thanks to Kojima. Kojima is able to....do the exact same thing thanks to Daimon. Their relationship starts out violent, horrible and manipulative to the extreme....but it's alright because they're both extremely strange. It's hard to tell who wears the pants in this relationship.
The beginning is fantastic. Daimon thinks his meanie bully coworker has a crush on him because he's so clingy and sensitive....while he acts like a rude boor. It's childish and somewhat creepy and the situation escalates.
Turns out he has a girlfriend and Kojima was messing with him the whole time.
Daimon does not react normally to this.
It turns out that he has anger management issues, and a bunch of other problems. He acts like a yes man in the office so people won't notice.
Kojima noticed.
He's trying to manipulate Daimon.
He wants Daimon to snap and kill him.
He almost does.
He lied about having a girlfriend.
The bullying was all a ploy to get him alone.
Their shared twisted crush was all part of the plan.
Kojima wants to die because he gave other children to a serial killer out of loneliness.
Let me explain.
Kojima befriended a homeless man who lived in the mountains as a boy. He received no love at home. The man turned out to be a monster, who claimed to "love" Kojima.
When the cops arrived he burned himself alive.
Kojima now wants to be punished, but he wants the ultimate love too.
Someone who will kill him.
Daimon worries for him. They have fun together. It's not all about deadly flirtation. The crush becomes love. They start to see each other beyond the trill of it all.
Daimon accidentally killed his grandmother. He wanted her to die when she began to lose her memory. He was destroyed by guilt. He was very young when he was told to care for her. He had to push her wheelchair to medical appointments...alone.
I think you know where this is going.
He wasn't strong enough to catch the chair when it slipped, and she died.
His parents blamed him, but it was all a ploy.
His mother wanted it to happen.
She placed a huge burden on her young son on purpose, hoping he would make a mistake.
Daimon finally cuts his mother off thanks to Kojima. He realizes he was being abused too. Not in the same way...but yeah it's a real eureka moment.
Kojima runs away.
Daimon almost marries a pretty, rich woman after he gets a promotion.
It doesn't make him happy.
He leaves her.
She confesses.
Kojima told her to pursue him.
Kojima wanted him to be happy.
Kojima wanted to test him. To see if he would choose the easy option, or him.
Daimon decides to solve the unsolved murders. The man who burned was blamed, but there are holes.
The murderer was Kojima's real father.
Also, he wasn't a murderer.
Daimon uses sheer determination and madness to unmask the real killers.
Kojima is shocked to learn that his abusive parents are just relatives, and he abandons them.
His father was treated like scum because he refused to do his family duties. His father was a fool who gave his son and his power away. Kojima simply cuts them off. He accepts that his loving father was a fool, who got taken advantage of.
He decides to forget about his rich and cold relatives, in order to live a truly happy life.
nothing i will ever read will come close to akuheki like oh my gosh akuheki is genuinely the definition of perfection
the way kojima changes after he built the life for daimon oh my gosh oh my days and dude daimon will never accept anyone but him LIKE HES NOT HAPPY IF HE ISNT THERE WOITH HIHMHMM
