I'm back on my skk bs but this time it's albachuu flavored.

So I'll admit I never understood the Chuuya/Dazai/Albatross ship in the "Chuuya has two hands" or the "all of them are dating each other" sense because in canon I don't see any overlap between the period of time where Albatross is alive and where Chuuya doesn't find Dazai legitimately repulsive. But I've mentioned before that I do find the concept of a Shirase->Albatross->Dazai consecutive boyfriend pipeline interesting.

So it's like yeah, Shirase broke Chuuya's heart. And then soon after, despite his every attempt to put up as many walls as possible, he developed a puppy crush on Albatross. Only to once again be rendered single by tragedy.

Like I said I can only see teen skk happening post-Stormbringer because there's not really a reason for them to get together prior to that storyline. The reason for getting together after? Chuuya literally has no one else. His family is dead and he blames himself. The only person he can trust having in his vicinity is his newly official partner, Dazai.

The albachuu piece of this is that part of the reason Chuuya warms up a bit to Dazai is that he misses Albatross, and sees some similarities between the two of them. Namely that they're both really annoying. But there's also that "partners in crime" going on missions together bit.

I like the idea of Shirase haunting Chuuya's relationship with Albatross, and then Albatross going on to haunt Chuuya's relationship with Dazai. Each trauma informs the next relationship. Thus, the pipeline.

The beauty of picking Dazai, from Chuuya's perspective, is that Chuuya still actively has a lot of negative feelings towards him. There's a sense of security in settling, and security is something that Chuuya desperately craves. Chuuya expects the worst from Dazai, so there's no way that Dazai can betray him the way that Shirase did. And surely if Chuuya were to lose Dazai the way he lost Albatross, it wouldn't hurt nearly as badly, right? (Insert Beast movie epilogue here)

It's a basically foolproof plan. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? He actually catches feelings for the mackerel? Dazai flees the mafia and he's forced to reckon with a new, unique kind of abandonment? Dazai stubbornly refuses to die and they end up irreparably intertwined for the rest of their lives? As if.
