“Alexa,” Janusz says, the syllables of her name spinning in his mouth in much the same way as they did from Madame Romanoff’s, “where are we headed?” “I do not know, Janusz,” she replies, taking his hands, “and isn’t it exciting?” (and) They get an apartment, a tiny little space above some bar, and they live. (or, alexa and the ballet, over the next year of her life)
