Imagine being in a fandom so small that you have no one to yap to when finding out that your favourite character will not be in the next season. That's me with Miss Scarlet right now.
MISS SCARLET | Series 6 (2025) Episode 5 — The Night Shift
Miss Scarlet Season 6 - Airdate and First look photos
This series follows a female detective in a captivating Victorian-era crime drama, with Season 6 set to premiere in January.
"The series undergoes a notable shift after Stuart Martin’s departure at the end of Season 4, forcing Eliza to fully step into her own without William “The Duke” Wellington as her primary counterbalance. That transition reinforces a central truth about the show: Eliza’s journey has always been about self-definition, not just romance. The introduction of Alexander Blake (Tom Durant Pritchard), a former soldier turned Scotland Yard inspector, brings a fresh dynamic. Blake is unfazed by Eliza’s role as a private detective but initially cuts off police collaboration with private investigators altogether, setting up a tense professional rivalry built on mutual respect rather than familiarity. Their uneasy partnership expands Eliza’s world while preserving the show’s core focus on her independence."
Miss Scarlet Season 6 is a compelling ride with stunning performances from the whole cast.
In every way where it matters, Miss Scarlet Season 6 is the show’s best run yet. It’s rare for a series to rebrand itself and still succeed in keeping its audience thoroughly enthralled, and while that fact proved to be true in Season 5, everything that we get in Season 6 doubles this notion brilliantly. The cases are intriguing, the characters feel lived-in, and the relationships sparkle.

Ok but the S5 finale absolutely CEMENTED my liking for Alexander Blake. Not because of the turnaround 'would you like to come in' at the end, although that was adorable.
He got her a book on forensics.
He GOT HER a BOOK on FORENSICS.
Y'ALL!!!
William was fine and all but he never actually encouraged Eliza's passion for detective work, and was even hostile about her ambition on occasion. I was sad to see him go, but honestly the couple made no sense. Sometimes love just isn't enough.
Meanwhile, Blake, who has been here a few short months (?) in show time recognizes Eliza's talent so much so that on a whim he buys her a book that pertains to her interests. Even the fact that he won't really hire her services is well done. It never mattered that Eliza is a woman, only that she's a private detective.
If this is the way things are going, I'm not mad at all.
