Finding Faerie
#BOOKREVIEW - Finding Faerie - #Evangeline #blog
There may be things throughout life that strongly call to you, but accepting the consequences of the call could lead to heartache, as in Alexia Purdy’s Evangeline (A Dark Faeire Tale).
A pair of sisters have an affinity for wielding fire but the pull they feel for the Land of Faerie is of differing strengths. Jade is a witch, fully human, while her younger sister Evangeline is part faery.…

Yes, I’m back. Thank you for taking your time reading this review, and I’m afraid it will be a short one at that. I’ll leave you to the summary, and my thoughts right after. Yes, I have some screenshots, so... at one point, keep scrolling at your own risk.
Dragons were never meant to be caged. Catori must escape an ancient order bent on hunting down the last of her kind, or face certain extinction. The Lucidium Order is a private sect which trains gifted warriors to capture anomalous creatures laced with magic. They’ll stop at nothing to reacquire her powers for themselves. When she finds two unlikely allies in a pair of Paladin warriors, brothers Leland and Tarek, they struggle to trust one another. Determined, the trio set out to find Catori’s remaining family, who are rumored to be the last of a legendary clan of dragons. All they find is a myriad of lies fracturing all their beliefs as they hit endless dead ends. Not everyone wants the truth about Catori’s past surfacing, and they’ll betray anyone to keep it concealed forever. This is book 1 of a riveting urban-fantasy adventure series from USA Today Bestselling Author Alexia Purdy. Book 2: Arcadian Coming Soon! (less)
This book aroused mixed feelings. At first, it seemed like a single POV, then it changed unexpectedly to double, then third, then double, then single... without warning, and it took me forever to accept the fact and to reason with my mind that there were different POVs, to begin with, and that I was not going crazy!
Catori has been kidnaped long ago when she was a kid and kept prisoner of an institute that has shown her no mercy on studying her kind. She’s not utterly alone since another kin was taken as well. Ultimately, these friends will escape, but only one will succeed. While Catori escapes and finds shelter, and far more than she could’ve hope: allies; the Order sends in one of their best trackers, Leland and his brother... some sort of bargain and oaths will issue between this trio, and a very fragile truce might come to pass.
Honestly, I don’t know how to continue this review. It felt interesting, but I was mostly confused for 80% of the book when I’m thrown for a spin delivered by the author. Oops, forgot to mention that this story is about dragons. Shifters. No wonder I kept going when I was mostly confused and spent. So, I guess I’ll leave you the review since I can’t can’t figure out what else to say. But I’ll add that this book might not be for you... and I can’t really say why or how...
Ugh, I might have forgotten to mention that my last review (which by the way was book number one for this series) is part of a series called The ArcKnight Chronicles. It happens to the best of us. At least I remembered to tag this series on the blog.
Also, when I finished reading Ardent I didn't have a formed opinion: liked, disliked, mixed feelings. It's so annoying not having an opinion on things. But I think I nailed it this time. Catch the summary below, as usual, while I try to organize my thoughts.
A Paranormal Shifter Romance Only love can save you… Freed from the bonds of royalty forever, Lily must adjust to life in the treacherous city of Temple. With the handsome prince Ephrem by her side, she inadvertently stumbles upon a third cell of supernatural shifters lurking in the city’s Outlands, but they aren’t part of any wolf pack she’s ever known. Tensions mount when these new strangers impede on the two royal strongholds and reignite a long-forgotten feud from decades past. Books in The ArcKnight Chronicles: Ardent #1 MarkTier #2 Enmity #3 NOW AVAILABLE for PREORDER! (less)
After both parties being banished officially even thou solving a soon to be killing rampage to power, things will turn a bit more incredible on all endings.
Lilliana, or Lily, will find out her origins; might not turn to be a pretty thing. Her relationship with Ephrem will certainly be thrown on a loop at some point. But you do wonder if the new uncovered truth will do some damage to this relationship. On another end, this threat might unite both packs; and it's all about girl power with this book, I think.
I know I said I nailed what this book was like, and I gotta say that half-way through is when things become more enticing to me. But up until that point it meant nothing other than: a spoiled teen banished from her home because she lost an amulet, her sister having to deal with her husband while maybe on a crush to another, the guilty party dead, brothers relationship a tad tainted, love, yadayada. Like I said, this one was better but it felt like it could have continued for another three chapters or something. The interesting part lasted only a couple of chapters. You'd think that this series presenting multiple POV's would make me a very happy person, but the only thing I got from it was too much stalling for the good part to come.
I'm still waiting for that part that will make this series an absolute gem, but it's taken too long. This book was just a glimpse, but unfortunately I'll have to wait to read the next installment – for I am poor right now.
The snapshots are below just as usual, so, I gotta go read yet another book!

Thank you for taking your time reading this review and see you all on the next book!
I was introduced to this author by another author's newsletter, and I apparently need to finish reading the series that introduced me to this author, but being broke once again after getting paid is outright annoying. So, I'll stick to the freebies I have to go through and then I'll pick that fearie (was it faerie thing? Don't remember) story. In the meantime this freebie has been on my shelf for a few weeks (probably months) so... let's get to it!
Catch the summary below before listening to my nonsense.
Vengeance is the only thing worth dying for. Teaming up with a handsome rival named Ephrem, the banished Princess Lilliana must find her stolen Ardent talisman before a sinister enemy uses it against both rival wolf pack strongholds, intertwining the destinies of the two would-be lovers.
After having her talisman stolen by a so called friend, Lily is punished with exile, she is to never to return home – and survival outside the gates of her kingdom/people is near to nonexistent. Her first few minutes out she's managed to get into trouble. But thanks to a good looking soldier, Ephram, she might have a chance at survival and go after the person who stole from her. Apparently this book is more like that Atlantis Disney movie, where life force or power are stored in such talisman. The background wasn't there, but something else was. These two might become more than friends: long ago they have become betrothed, but apparently the blood oath ain't valid. Who knew? This tad bit of detail won't stay between them... It wasn't clear to me, maybe I fell asleep, but did Lily become aware of the situation long ago forgotten, but only now coming to the light of day?
This dual POV story is a fast paced book intended to be read pretty fast; so, good thing it was free!! Maybe that's why I am missing so many details!! Hahaha
I do have snapshots but there aren't many, sorry about that. There's a book two to this, and I might jump right at it soon enough.
As you know Alexia Purdy is a known author on here, so, if you'd like to hear more of my reviews by this author, be my guest and click her name tag.
That would be all and thank you for taking your time reading this review, and see you all on the next book!
Ever Winter… the story continues, and I did buy this book. $0.60 for it didn’t hurt much if it were a $3 book! Ha! I know! So cheap of me.
Catch the summary below:
Shade has been left all, but shattered. Traveling to the Ice kingdom, along with her 'body guard' Dylan-who continues to be bound to her-to where the holder of her magic dwells. The war of Faerie amplifies and her only chance to save it will be to resist the enchantments of the Ice King, one of the Ancient rulers of Faerie. But, he has his own agenda and will do anything to stop her from making it to the Summer Kingdom, with her family, to claim back her throne These Ancients of Faerie don't want her to succeed, and the wards between the land of Faerie and the mortal world are blurring rapidly. Shade must face treacheries in every crevice of the land, even among the human mortals and trusted allies, before all is lost. (less)
On this volume Shade's gotta rediscover herself, face certain death, get into another bond with someone she despises (and no, she ain't falling for this one), she's gonna say "I love you" on different levels to different people. There will be tons (not actually, but some) plot twists that will leave you agape (as in numb; might be a good thing to not having much reaction at all!), and that love triangle I was holding onto might cease to exist. And the face behind the super power from the bad guys will come to light. Now it's time to figure out if the last action of this book will result in more pain or gains!
Yes, this was my review. And again with that tiny note: I'm on my phone and the typing speed is rather slower than a turtle. So I'm leaving you to it. The snapshots are below as usual, and scroll some more for links to previous reviews on this series.
