Germany's most famous feminist, Alice Schwarzer, who once sued magazines for their sexist degrading depictions of women, published an article in an infamous tabloid newspaper, claiming that olympic boxer Imane Khelif is Intersex and describing in detail what she thinks her genitals look like. Nothing illustrates better how little she actually cares about fighting sexism. There is no evidence Imane Khelif is Intersex but even if she was there's no excuse to publish an article speculating about someone's genitals.

         We, Alice Schwarzer and Sahra Wagenknecht, have jointly written a "Manifesto for Peace". For negotiations instead of tanks. Within a few days, the manifesto was signed by 70 well-known personalities from culture, art, science and politics. Based on the demands of this manifesto, we invite you together with Brigadier General (ret.) Erich Vad to a rally: on 25 February at 2 pm at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. Come one and all! Our country needs a strong peace movement again.

With these actions we want to contribute to the fact that half of the German population is finally heard in the public debate, pleading for negotiations instead of war. For peace instead of tanks.

Filmtipp: Alice

Die Verfilmung eines prägenden Lebensabschnitts Alice Schwarzers ist gelungen und kein typischer ARD-Film, die oft mit allzu flachen Dialogen aufwarten. Das Skript ist stimmig und Nina Gummich trifft Alice punktgenau, jedes Detail ihrer Darstellung passt perfekt.

Auch in drei Stunden, die nur einen Ausschnitt eines langen und bewegten Lebens darstellen, lässt sich nicht jeder komplexe Diskurs darstellen und nicht jede wichtige Begegnung bekommt den Raum, den sie verdient. Doch der Film funktioniert als Rückschau auf reale Begebenheiten wie auch als Unterhaltungsfilm mit Komplexität und Botschaft. Schaut rein!

Why does Die Zeit even still publish Alice Schwarzer's transphobic rants?

It is curious in a way, the way she seems more concerned with trans men than with trans women, a bit reminiscent of Rowling's mask-off blog post. Is there a word for this phenomenon? I mean, it is still TERF by definition, in that it arrives at transphobia via radfem ideology, but it is also kind of distinct in that it is less concerned with "male invaders", more with "lost sisters" so to speak.

I know Die Zeit loves playing the neutral marketplace of ideas and publish opinions from both sides of controversial topics, but stuff like this is inexcusable fearmongering with zero grounding in reality, and it just goes unchallenged:
