The Enterprise drifts through the brilliant shimmer of the Metrin Nebula — ribbons of golden gas curling like ghostly fingers across the stars. The crew had planned a quiet passage, a simple study of energy signatures recorded in Federation archives. What they hadn’t planned on was a fight for survival.

It was supposed to be a regular day on the bridge.

Spock goes very still. Every molecule in his body freezes.

He’d heard her clearly. Too clearly.

Infection.

Unknown incubation speed.

He looked down at his hand. It was trembling.

Then he felt it—a rippling sensation, like something moved beneath the flesh of his lower abdomen. Agony.

(aka the fic nobody asked for, but I really wanted. Just another day on the Enterprise while some alien lifeform tries to tear its way out from Spock's abdomen. Fic contains blood, body horror, romance, and Spock spilling his guts, in more ways than one. Hehehe.)
