Calm down. Do not be afraid. They all have guns. I don't. So I'm the one you can trust. Thank you.
DOCTOR WHO | 2.03: THE WELL {insp: ✧ | ✧ }

DOCTOR WHO | "The Well"
I thought it was interesting that people only died when they got directly behind Aliss, particularly with Aliss' "don't turn your back on me" line. When people turn their back on her, she doesn't know what they're saying, and that makes being directly behind someone a terrifying place to be (especially in a situation like this where they're doing it to talk about you without you being involved). That's presumably the same for someone going directly behind her, where she can't see. It's the fear of the unknown, which is, y'know, the Midnight Entity's whole thing. So I just think it's interesting that the Entity took this thing that scared its host and gave everybody else a visible and immediate consequence for doing it. Who knows, if people had kept turning their backs on Aliss like the Doctor did, maybe the Entity would've started attacking them as well.
I've also seen theories that the Entity was possessing Aliss Midnight-style the whole time, which would fit this. I think that the Entity is driven by curiosity (I have a whole post on that if you're interested) so if it's possessing Aliss, then people standing behind her are the only ones it can't learn anything from, because it can't hear or see them. So it gets rid of them. Plus, I think everybody who got thrown by the Entity got thrown over Aliss' head? So they'd die at midnight, but they'd hit the ground at 6 o' clock... which is directly in Aliss'/the Entity's field of vision, so it can see the result of what it's done.

ok more rapid fire thoughts on The Well
Stop fucking cutting to Ten!!! this era is already up his ass, and he did have lot of episodes but if it isn't necessary to understand the plot (which it wasn't, and if you've seen Midnight you'll know) we shouldn't have to be reminded again that RTD is severely stuck in 2009. you get one and and you already used it five times over with 60th specials. This is not David Tennets show.
Belinda continues to be my favorite companion since Bill. I think it's perfect that just as she's starting to have fun, and fall for The Doctor she almost dies because of his negligence. HE wanted to see the entity and she got SHOT for it. I can't wait to see how their dynamic builds I hope they have a huge fight towards the end of the season. I just hope they don't make her forgive him so easily.
Rose aisling-ellis as Aliss Fenly was incredible, her desperation and frustration became my own; I was yelling at my screen for them to listen to her. The hologram subtitles were super cool, but even with cool scifi tech they were still selective with what parts of the conversation she was allowed in on. A very realistic example of how even with disability aids, ableists still choose to abuse their power. Also yet another reminder for me to get on with learning ASL.
