Bay Transformers 1 tries to have this whole throughline about sacrifice in its movie, which hey congratulations, you have identified a major theme in the Transformers franchise as a whole good job movie, but it falls completely flat because it feels disingenuous. (The one thing a plot about SACRIFICE cannot feel in tone)

Debatly the thread starts with Fig getting injured in Qatar, which im not even sure he is shown again so he maybe he died there. (Someone is carried away on a stretcher by the Qatar survivors in one of the best shots of the film)

They tried to give Mikela a tragic backstory where she gets a juvenile record by not giving her father up for his criminal life fixing up stolen cars. (What have you ever had go sacrifice in your perfect life Sam) which comes too late in the movie to add anything meaningful to Mikela's character (what character lol) and is so clunky in execution it might as well may not have been there. Im not sure Mikela should have been there at all but I think if Sam was there by himself the whole time I actually would have reached through the screen to strangle him myself.

Bumblebee's sacrifice (getting captured by S7) makes sense on paper but Sam and Bumblebee haven't really had time (despite the freaking run time of this movie) to make a meaningful bond in this movie so it really falls flat. I hear the swelling music, its not moving me like you think it does.

I will point to Jazz half heartedly because thats as much as the movie does.

And the big culmination of all of this is supposed to a conversation between Prime and Sam about how Sam risked his life for the Allspark and to push the Allspark into Prime's chest if they worst happens. No sacrifice, no victory. (Which i guess Sam learned from Mikela which like....ok) Im not saying this movie wpuld have been improved if Optimus would have gone through with his sacrifice, but the solution to push the allspark through Megatron's chest to kill him??? Sam is lucky that even worked. His only understanding of the allspark is that it can bring technology to life as demonstrated by S7 showcasing it to him by using its powers to transform a Nokia phone to a creature. As a transformers fan, im aware that Optimus has the Matrix in his chest which is what I thought they were getting at. A powerful artifact to destroy a powerful artifact. The Allspark brings life but if it comes into contact with that life it destroys it? But they can touch it? I guess it KINDA makes sense that if the Allspark comes into contact with a spark it created it would destroy it, but this is going so far outside the knowledge of the movie and into speculation of outside Transformers knowledge that I just hate this plotpoint. I kinda went off into a tangent - but my point is it also completly destroys any theme of sacrifice you were trying to build to.

Transformers fanfic search request

All I remember is that the AllSpark (or maybe Primus) decides to become Human and also decides that Sam Witwicky is now one of his parents. I can't remember who they chose for the other parent, if they did at all. Any help would be appreciated!
