I don't like living like this (like it doesn't hurt)
(3&4/7)
Oh hey so I just finished the AFTG series, and I see that y’all seem to be pretty pro-Andreil omegaverse fics... *clears throat and cracks knuckles* well, I can’t resist writing an omegaverse AU. Sneak peek, anyone?
‘Andrew.’ Neil’s voice is steady, but Andrew can smell the tension simmering beneath Neil’s skin; the frustration, the desperation. ‘Andrew, please.’
Neil’s scent is delicious, and Andrew grits his teeth and holds his breath against it.
‘No.’
Neil whines, high and angry, in his throat, and his eyes burn into Andrew’s. He won’t protest out loud, not after Andrew has given such a firm no, but he stares at him, eyes imploring, mouth slightly parted and just begging to be kissed.
‘Do not look at me like that,’ Andrew says, working hard to keep his voice level, bored. He planted a firm hand on Neil’s chest and pushed him backwards into the cage built into the back of the Foxes’ locker room. ‘I’m sorry,’ Andrew added, as Neil silently watched him shut the barred door and lock him in. The key was on a long chain, and Andrew made sure to sling it around his neck where Neil could see. ‘I’ll be back for you,’ he promised, and Neil nodded, subdued.
Andrew hated himself as he turned his back on Neil, closing and locking the outer door behind him.
Renee was waiting for him in the locker room, her small smile kind and understanding. Behind her Matt and Dan stood shoulder to shoulder, and Wymack hovered a few paces back.
Andrew jabbed a finger into Renee’s face. ‘No one goes in,’ Andrew hissed, voice low in a clear threat. ‘And he doesn’t come out. Not until I come for him.’
Andrew caught a flare of hot, fierce protectiveness swirl from Renee as she nodded, eyes clear and serious. ‘I’ll watch him until you get back,’ she agreed.
‘We all will,’ Matt interjected, and Dan nodded at his side.
Andrew narrowed his eyes at them all. It didn’t feel right — it wasn’t right — abandoning Neil at his most vulnerable, but Andrew knew he had no choice.
All the Fox girls had presented as alphas when the time came (with no surprise to anyone who knew them), but there was still no-one else Andrew could trust to protect Neil in his absence as much as Renee. The fact that she had taken and bitten not one, but two omegas of her own — Jean Moreau and Jeremy Knox — helped ease any lingering concerns Andrew might have had leaving Neil with another alpha. Dan had bitten Matt almost as soon as she presented, and Wymack, a beta, barely registered with Andrew is his heightened, pre-rut state.
Neil’s pathetic whimper from behind the locked doors made Andrew’s blood fizz in his veins, all the pent-up frustration, arousal, and jealous, territorial rage that had been fighting in his system since he caught the first faint scent of Neil’s heat starting earlier that day. Andrew clenched his fists by his sides, fighting against every instinct he had so he wouldn’t barge his way back into the locked room and make Neil his.
‘Go,’ Renee says, and Andrew bites back a growl of possessiveness.
He turns on his heel and stalks out of the Foxhole Court.
Are prompts open?? If so, could you write about when Andrew and Toby became mates? It feels like it was kind of sudden or? Was it planned? If so, was Toby freaked out when Drew asked?
Was it a disaster-toby-kind of thing? What happened??? Love uuuu
Toby doesn’t know why he ran.
It’s what he does, he supposes, sighing as he throws another stone into the lake; he ruins everything. His fear of commitment has haunted him since his teens, since presenting as an omega and suddenly becoming very aware of what a bite on his neck could mean for someone like him.
Entrapment, ownership and an end to his own decisions, now ruled by an alpha who only wants him for his body, to bear pups. The fear of a claim mark is one of the reasons why Toby began to wear a scarf or an ascot wherever he goes; to keep the sight of his pretty, unmarked neck away from hungry, predatory alphas.
And now, he’s ran away from the only alpha who has never made him feel like just a piece of meat.
“I thought I’d find you out here.”
Toby jumps, startled. He turns quickly to find Andrew standing a way away in the tall grass, holding Toby’s favourite white jacket in his hands.
“Drew—”
“Here,” Andrew says, tossing the omega his jacket. “You must be freezing.”
“Uh.” Toby had recognised a chill on his skin but being so lost in thought, he hadn’t realised that he’d charged out of the cabin without a shirt on, barefoot too. “Thanks.”
Now shivering against the autumnal wind, Toby puts on his jacket and fastens it, pulling the collar up to hide as much of his neck as he can, seeing Andrew flinch and frown at his actions.
“You wanna tell me why you ran? Or should I just guess?” The alpha says, expression softening. “Because I think running away from someone when they ask you to be their mate speaks volumes about what the answer is.”
Toby’s heart clenches in pain at the hurt tone of Andrew’s voice. He turns his back on the alpha, launching another stone into the lake with a heavy throw.
“This weekend,” Toby sighs. “It was all building up to you wanting to claim me?”
The break away from their city life to Andrew’s family-owned cabin in the mountains, surrounded by a private lake and beautiful scenery, didn’t seem suspicious at first. They’ve had weekend breaks here before, cosy winter nights in each other’s arms in the small bed and coffee mornings on the porch as the sun rose above the mountains in the distance. All of that beauty seemed tarnished now as the omega feels the walls closing in around him like a cage.
“No,” Andrew shakes his head. He keeps his gaze on Toby whilst he fishes for something in the pocket of his navy trousers, pulling out a little white box with a red ribbon around it. “I was going to ask you to marry me.”
Toby can only stare in awe as Andrew opens the box and reveals a silver ring with a shining green gem in the middle of it, resting on a velvet pillow. The omega is speechless for the first time in his rowdy life, with only curse words coming to mind.
“Holy fucking shit,” he gasps.
“To ask you,” Andrew says softly. “Not to force you to do anything. Not to claim you or mark you. I just wanted to take the next step with you, Toby. That’s all. It’s your choice.”
Toby’s shoulders slump just before he falls to the ground on his ass, exhausted and confused. The alpha is by his side in a moment, placing a calming hand on his trembling knee.
Toby shakes his head, “I’ve never trusted an alpha before you.”
“I know.”
“I thought you were going to…”
“I know, Toby,” Andrew says, leaning in and giving the omega’s cheek a gentle nuzzle. “As soon as you bolted, I knew that I’d made a mistake.”
“You?” Toby scoffs. “Your mistake?”
“Yes. You’ve told me about your fears of being claimed and I was too bold. I should have been more delicate instead of trying to surprise you with an engagement ring. I’m sorry, Toby.”
Andrew bows his head, looking at Toby through his messy red curtain of fallen hair. He looks perfectly innocent, younger than the callouses on his hands would suggest. Andrew Henry may be an alpha but he’s the best that Toby has ever met.
“Drew,” Toby says, cupping Andrew’s cheek and bringing his gaze up. “I’m sorry for running from you. I’m sorry for thinking that you were gonna be like the rest of them.”
“It’s okay.”
“No, it isn’t. I let my past hurt us.” Toby looks down, feeling himself blushing underneath the pretty alpha’s gaze. “I know you. I…love you. I want to marry you.”
“Toby,” Andrew sighs. “There’s no rush.”
“It’s been almost three years,” Toby nods, reassuring himself too. “I want to be yours.”
Andrew’s smile is the most beautiful thing that Toby has ever seen. With one strong sweep, he’s lifted into Andrew’s arms and held as though he weighs nothing; it’s one of the benefits of dating an ex-soldier, ex-trapper.
When they kiss, Toby takes a deep breath and feels the skin on his neck beginning to tingle, and he isn’t afraid.
Soothe the Ache- omegaverse!Andreil
yeah so, I know I said I’m not writing AFTG oneshots rn, but this popped into my head and has to be written.
This is omegaverse!AU, so if you don’t like it, feel free to ignore this post :) (but let’s be real- we’re all sluts for a/b/o here on tumblr). Also, mentions of blood, period, period pain.
Dedicated to @fox-sleeping-minyard who is suffering and gave me the idea for this fic. I hope you feel better soon babe <3
Neil hates this, hates waking up to a tearing pain in his tummy, swelling in his scent glands and the feeling of blood making his thighs stick together. He startles out of sleep the second he realizes what’s going on, wide awake from one moment to the other.
He has to jump out of bed and waddle to the bathroom, clenching hard to prevent more blood from spilling; as he reaches the door of their dorm room, he can hear Andrew stir in bed behind him.
Neil hurries to the bathroom, already internally pissed as hell. Why now? Why today? He has classes to attend, and Exy practice.
Back when he was on the run with his Mom, she used to give him suppressants- not always the same brand, and not always the right dosage for him, which has messed up his cycle and is the reason why Abby forbade him to take them anymore. At least he didn’t have to deal with this bullshit back then.
Neil hates his period. It makes him feel like he’s being ripped open from the inside, and as if he’s literally, well, open. It’s disgusting and it hurts and is guaranteed to get him into a bad mood.
He doesn’t know how long he stays in the bathroom, just glad to relax his aching muscles. His thighs are bloody, and he knows that he needs a shower. He just can’t quite get himself to stand up and turn on the shower, it seems like too much effort.
“Neil?” There’s a knock in the door. Andrew.
A mewl escapes Neil; his Alpha is here. It’s such a base emotion, and is snaps Neil back into motion. He gets up, shedding his ruined pyjama pants, and quickly turns on the sink to wash his hands.
“I’m... I just got my period, don’t worry.”
Neil hears a little grunt from outside the door as he squirts soap on his hands. It’s not that Andrew is shy or sheepish about such things; he just hates it when Neil is in pain and he can’t help him.
“Neil, can I come in?” Andrew pauses, then adds, “I don’t want you to keel over again.” Because, yeah, that’s happened before. Just once, but still.
Neil hesitates. It’s nothing Andrew hasn’t seen before, but the idea of having someone to care for him in such a vulnerable situation is still something Neil has to get used to.
“...yeah.” Neil unlocks the door after drying his hands. Andrew stands there, in nothing but his pyjama pants and armbands. Neil can see his Alpha’s nostrils flare for a second, but to his credit, Andrew doesn’t look down at the mess. He just steps into the bathroom and opens his arms for Neil in a silent offer. Neil can’t help it; he melts into Andrew’s embrace.
“...I’m gonna get you all dirty.”
“Doesn’t matter.”
Andrew holds him for at least a minute. When he starts rubbing gentle circles over Neil’s lower back, the aching eases a little and Neil sighs softly, pressing his nose into the crook of Andrew’s neck.
“Come on, you need to shower.”, Andrew says after a while.
Neil lets himself be maneuvered into the bathtub and obeys when Andrew tells him to sit down.
While Neil lets the warm water soothe his pain a little, Andrew goes and retrieves clean underwear and soft pants for Neil, along with one of Andrew’s (worn) shirts.
“Thank you...”, Neil whispers, his head lolling back against the edge of the bathtub, heels propped against the opposite wall of the tub, trying to find a position that hurts less.
“I’ve got your painkillers, too.”, Andrew says. Neil, eyes closed, hears Andrew sit down on the closed lid of the toilet, and then feels a strong hand gently comb through his sweaty, damp hair and massaging his scalp.
Neil purrs for a moment before the pain comes back in a hard wave and makes his purring turn into a groan. “Aw, shit...”, he hisses out.
Andrew growls softly, as if he can scare the pain away.
-
Andrew insists on carrying Neil back into bed. Not that Neil minds; having showered, clean clothes and a pad make him feel a little better, but the pain is still there. He slings his arms around Andrew’s neck and lets himself be carried back to bed bridal style.
When Andrew slides into bed behind him, Neil wiggles his butt back against him. “You don’t have to stay... you have classes...”, he whispers, even though there’s no need to whisper since Kevin is already out for some outrageous reason. Neil hates him a little for being on suppressants right now.
“Shut up.”, Andrew replies, but it come out all soft and sappy. He wraps his arm around Neil, palm coming to rest on Neil’s lower belly and his nose pressed into Neil’s neck from behind.
Neil closes his eyes. It still hurts, of course, but being here with Andrew makes the pain matter so much less.

I would love to read more about Toby and Andrew’s lives as mates! Something smutty? <3
Also maybe a pregnancy scare? I feel like Toby isn’t ready for kids at all but Andrew really wants them? How would they handle it?
Hugs and love sweetie
Andrew waits nervously beside his mate in the bathroom, both of them sitting on the fluffy, blue mat with their hands entwined between them. The timer on Toby’s phone ticks down to 0 whilst the pregnancy test sits on the side of the sink out of sight but not out of mind.
“If it’s positive,” Andrew says softly, placing a kiss on Toby’s head when the omega leans on his shoulder. “Then we’ll deal with it.”
“I don’t want to deal with it,” Toby pouts, snuggling in to Andrew’s side. “It can’t have happened.”
“Accidents happen, sweetheart.”
“But we used protection,” Toby says the last word in a funny voice which makes Andrew smile, knowing how much the omega hates to be fucked with a condom on the alpha insists; his love of his mate’s recklessness and disaster-like personality ends with his views on unsafe sex. Toby shifts, resting his head back against the side of the bath. “You’re just chill about this because you want kids.”
Andrew sighs, having had this conversation with Toby half a dozen times already in the two years that they’ve been mated, “I’m not going to deny that I want pups with you, Toby. But if you aren’t ready—”
“I wouldn’t be a good father. Mother. Whatever,” Toby pulls his fingers free of Andrew’s hold and folds his arms, tucking his legs underneath him and turning away. “My parents weren’t around. I lived with my Aunt and Uncle for most of my life. I wouldn’t be able to look after a baby.”
The alpha’s stomach twists; he knew about Toby’s parents of course, but he hadn’t guessed that it would cause such parental insecurities in him when it came to his own children.
“Toby? Toby. Look at me,” Andrew reaches to cup the omega’s farthest cheek and bring his attention back to the present. He obeys the touch and allows himself to be guided back into Andrew’s gaze. After the alpha has tucked a piece of Toby’s dark hair behind his ear, he leans in for a kiss. “If you don’t want this then there are options.”
“I wouldn’t get rid of it. I…couldn’t.” Toby shuffles back into Andrew’s arms, somehow looking small in his hold despite being taller and thicker. “Drew?”
“Mm?”
“I love you.”
Andrew smiles, “I love you too, Toby. It’s…it’s time.”
The pair pull apart and Toby reaches with a trembling hand to the pink and white stick that rests on the bathroom sink, keeping his gaze locked on Andrew as he sits back down. They look down together.
One single line. Not pregnant.
“Fuck,” Toby exclaims, letting his whole body relax from the tension that was knotted in every one of his muscles. “Fuck!”
Andrew smiles at the relief pounding through their bond from the omega’s side but it doesn’t drown out the feelings of his own disappointment. It would have to be a joint decision to start having pups and certainly what Toby would want since it’s his body but Andrew’s hopes had been sky high for this to be their time. To nurture his pregnant mate and care for him and welcome a beautiful baby into their lives after 9 months is a dream for Andrew; he’s always wanted to be a father.
“Drew? Hey. I’m sorry,” Toby is saying, nuzzling Andrew’s thick, ginger beard with his nose to scent him.
“You have nothing to apologise for, baby,” Andrew says, his voice crack betraying his true feelings. “You didn’t want this.”
“But you did.” The omega purrs against his mate’s side. “We’ll have babies one day, I promise. Just not now.”
“I know,” Andrew smiles. “Thank you.”
The pregnancy test is dropped to the floor as Toby wraps his arms around Andrew’s neck, hugging him tightly before climbing into his lap to be cuddled properly and the alpha relishes in the feeling of the omega’s hefty weight on top of him.
“But since I’m not pregnant and we’ve got no plans for the rest of the afternoon,” Toby says, his fingers combing through the long hairs at the nape of the alpha’s neck. “Do you want to…you know?”
“You really do have a one-track mind, Toby,” Andrew shakes his head in disbelief but chuckles, allowing his hands to slide over the omega’s plump ass cheeks and making him buck forward.
Toby bites his lip, “I want to make you feel good. You’re so supportive, Drew. I don’t know where I’d be without you.”
“You’d probably still be in heat in the middle of the forest,” Andrew quips, recalling their first meeting.
“You would have found me eventually.”
“I think so too.”
“So…you wanna go? We can play, if you want.”
Andrew raises an eyebrow. “Play? I don’t follow.”
“You know,” Toby shrugs. “Pretend that you’re putting a baby in me when you’re not. Talk about breeding me and that shit. If it’ll get you off, make you forget about this stuff.”
Andrew can’t deny that that sounds incredibly hot. He didn’t think it were possible to feel so aroused after learning that he and Toby aren’t going to be parents but he finds his knot pulsing in his pants at the thought of saying that sort of stuff to his pretty omega.
“Is it what you want to do?” Andrew asks.
“Yeah,” Toby nods, riding nothing in his alpha’s lap but he’s lifting himself up and down teasingly. “I always want to. I love you, Drew. Alpha. Always wanna be under you.”
“Then who am I to deny such a beautiful omega?”
And with one swift move, the pair stand up but Andrew—with strength from his trapper days—sweeps Toby off of his feet and into his arms, carrying him bridal-style into their bedroom.
Perhaps they won’t conceive this time or the next or the next but Andrew decided that his family is already perfect as it is; Toby is everything to him.
