What I Think Would Happen If Isabella Garcia-Shapiro Were To Be Turned Into An Alpha Lantern
Ok. Here I’ll be going over my thoughts on what might happen if Isabella Garcia-Shapiro from the Phineas And Ferb TV series were to be turned into an Alpha Lantern and also why I think an Alpha Lantern Power Battery would choose her to become an Alpha Lantern if she were recruited into the Green Lantern Corps. Also, Spoiler Alert for the Phineas And Ferb TV series and Green Lantern comics. With that out of the way, let’s dive right in.
First, I’ll be going over why I think Isabella would be chosen by a Green Lantern Ring which would recruit her into the Green Lantern Corps and why she would be chosen by an Alpha Lantern Power Battery to become an Alpha Lantern. This first bit about Isabella being suitable for a Green Lantern Ring wasn’t really my idea. As @lanternringsonallthethings pointed out on their Phineas And Ferb Lantern Corps Part 1 post, Isabella would be suitable for a Green Lantern Ring since she is able to lead a scout troop with little to no adult supervision. This makes sense since, as shown in Green Lantern Corps Vol 2 #18, Green Lantern Rings are powered by willpower and choose their wielders based on their willpower. And, as shown in the episode ‘Isabella And The Temple Of Sap’, Isabella was able to lead the scout troop called the Fireside Girls out of a dangerous situation and kept calm throughout the danger. That would take a lot of willpower. As shown in Green Lantern Vol 4 #27, Alpha Lantern Power Batteries choose Green Lantern Corps members to become Alpha Lanterns based on their ability to enforce justice. And it seems their ability to enforce justice has to be great even for a member of the Green Lantern Corps since, as also shown in Green Lantern Vol 4 #27, Alpha Lantern Power Batteries chose only a few specific members of the Green Lantern Corps to be Alpha Lanterns but not others. And, as shown in the episode ‘Lord Of The Firesides’, Isabella seemed to put up quite a bit of resistance against the Uncooperate-Inator’s effects to the point that she was at least trying to remain calm and was trying to maintain order while, thanks to the Uncooperate-Inator, quite a few of the other Fireside Girls were going crazy before Isabella also completely succumbed to the Uncooperate-Inator’s effects herself and I think that Isabella’s resistance to the Uncooperate-Inator before also completely succumbing to its effects is even more impressive when considering that this was despite the fact that Isabella and the other Fireside Girls for that matter didn’t know the change in behavior was being caused by an external force. And this combined with the fact that having the will to at least try to maintain order is a part of enforcing justice probably means that, even for a member of the Green Lantern Corps, Isabella is more than disciplined enough to enforce great justice. So, an Alpha Lantern Power Battery would probably choose Isabella to become an Alpha Lantern. However, there’s a dark side to the Alpha Lanterns that I’ll be going over in the next paragraph.
As shown in Green Lantern Vol 4 #28, Green Lantern Corps members who join the Alpha Lanterns go through surgery and are turned into cyborgs who are also robbed of their ability to feel emotion. And I’m guessing that willpower is the only exception to this since, as stated in Green Lantern Vol 4 #27, an Alpha Lantern’s body would have a link to the Green Central Power Battery which is powered by willpower. And it would be horrifying for a CHILD to do something like that to themselves and, sadly, I think there can be a set of circumstances where Isabella would choose to become an Alpha Lantern despite all this. As shown in the episode ‘Phineas And Ferb Summer Belongs To You! Part II’, Isabella was constantly heartbroken by Phineas’s obliviousness to her love. So, I’m thinking what if there came a time that Isabella decided that she couldn’t take the heartbreak anymore? Isabella might, at first, try to ask Ferb to make a machine that would erase her heartbreak but probably won’t ask for Phineas’s help too since that might give away to Phineas that she has a crush on someone but might not know it’s him that she has a crush on and Isabella might get worried that, after hearing that she has a crush on someone, Phineas might try to set up a romantic date between her and whoever she has a crush on since, as shown in the episode ‘That Sinking Feeling’, Isabella had seen that Phineas can be quite enthusiastic when it comes to setting up romantic dates even if he’s not exactly good at it. And I don’t think an already heartbroken Isabella would want to deal with the drama that would surely ensue from something like that. But I think Ferb would say no to Isabella’s request to erase one of her emotions like that since he would probably know that erasing one of a person’s emotions through artificial means could be extremely unhealthy and might lead to unforeseen consequences given that Ferb can be wise beyond his years since, as shown in the Across The 2nd Dimension movie, when it came down to choosing between forgetting the greatest day he and his friends had and losing Perry and before Ferb’s memories were erased to make it so that Perry wouldn’t be relocated, he said: “Well, we’ve had a lot of great days but we only have one Perry” which got Phineas to choose forgetting the greatest day they ever had over losing Perry. Ferb’s refusal to grant Isabella’s request might cause Isabella to get desperate to the point that she might embrace the Alpha Lantern transformation since it would make it so that she would no longer feel emotion other than maybe willpower and the emotions that Isabella would no longer feel would surely include heartbreak. So, Isabella might see it as an opportunity to be set free from the heartbreak. And I think that the Guardians Of The Universe would be willing to do that to a child since, as shown in Green Lantern Vol 5 #1, they, despite being called the Guardians Of The Universe, are emotionless to the point of being cruel and ruthless. Another thing that caused me to think up this idea was a Miraculous Tales Of Ladybug And Chat Noir fanfic I partly read many years ago where, if I’m remembering it right, Marinette who is also a child cut herself off from feeling emotion to avoid getting akumatized because of her negative emotions revolving around her crush Adrien. However, I can’t remember the title of that fanfic or the author of it.
Isabella might also ask for help to make sure that she stays loyal to her loved ones as an Alpha Lantern even with all her emotions gone besides probably her willpower. And, given that, as shown in the episode ‘Isabella And The Temple Of Sap’, Isabella is quite smart and clever, she might be able to deduce that the best candidate for the job might be Dkrtzy RRR since, as stated in Green Lantern/Sinestro Corps Secret Files #1, he is a bio-sentient mathematical equation discovered by a mad mathematician named Timph Rye who sought to prove that willpower could be derived formulaically which probably means that Dkrtzy RRR is not only a bio sentient math equation but also one that was somehow created and forged from a sample of willpower which would probably mean that Dkrtzy RRR is essentially a sample of willpower in mathematical form. And since, as already mentioned, Alpha Lanterns are linked to the Green Central Power Battery which is powered by willpower, Dkrtzy RRR might be able to tamper with the cybernetics of Alpha Lantern Isabella to at least make it so that she still has the willpower to stay loyal to her loved ones even if her heart’s attachment to them does not since Dkrtzy RRR is probably a sample of willpower in mathematical form. And, as also stated in Green Lantern/Sinestro Corps Secret Files #1, Dkrtzy RRR seems to have experience invading the brains of other people. This might also help Dkrtzy RRR make sure that Isabella’s loyalty to her loved ones stays intact even if her heart’s attachment to them is not. And while Dkrtzy RRR is, as stated in Green Lantern/Sinestro Corps Secret Files #1, also known for erasing the brains of his enemies, I think that those enemies are likely evil people since, as also stated in Green Lantern/Sinestro Corps Secret Files #1, Dkrtzy RRR is a member of the Green Lantern Corps and, as shown throughout Green Lantern comics, the Green Lantern Corps’ mission is to fight evil. And since, as shown throughout the Phineas And Ferb TV series, Isabella is not an evil person, I think that Dkrtzy RRR would help Isabella out. Considering this, Dkrtzy RRR might also try to make it so that all of Isabella’s emotions stay intact despite Isabella’s wishes since it would be horrible to let a child do that to themselves. Dkrtzy RRR would probably try to remove Isabella’s Alpha Lantern cybernetics but decide against it given that it could kill Isabella since, as shown in Green Lantern Corps Vol 2 #51, it’s incredibly difficult to remove all of an Alpha Lantern’s cybernetics without them dying. So, Dkrtzy RRR might try the next best thing and try to preserve all of Isabella’s emotions. But since Dkrtzy RRR is a sentient math equation who probably embodies willpower in mathematical form and only willpower in mathematical form, I think that Dkrtzy RRR would be unable to preserve Isabella’s other emotions. And all this would mean that Isabella would be turned into a heartless drone who is essentially programmed to be loyal to and protect her old self’s loved ones but without having any emotion for them.
Isabella’s loved ones would be horrified after seeing what Isabella had done to herself. And I think that Phineas would especially want to return Isabella to normal since, as shown in the episode ‘Night Of The Living Pharmacists Part I’, Phineas was incredibly concerned for Isabella. The power of a Blue Lantern Ring might be able to do just that since, as shown in Green Lantern Vol 4 #38, a Blue Lantern Ring was able to heal the damage done to a person’s body and mind by a Red Lantern Ring and thus remove a Red Lantern Ring safely which is really impressive since, as stated in Green Lantern Vol 4 #37, a Red Lantern would die if their Red Lantern Ring was taken off without help from healing powers and the power of a Red Lantern Ring drives them into a literally feral rage. So, a Blue Lantern Ring might be able to heal all the damage done to an Alpha Lantern’s body and mind by their transformation into an Alpha Lantern and thus remove the Alpha Lantern cybernetics safely while the Blue Lantern Ring is causing Isabella’s body and mind to regenerate and heal which would all return Isabella to her purely organic state. And, as lanternringsonallthethings pointed out on their Phineas And Ferb Lantern Corps Part 1 post, Phineas would be chosen by a Blue Lantern Ring because of his optimism and his belief that anything is possible. That makes sense since, as shown in Green Lantern Vol 4 #36, Blue Lantern Rings are powered by hope and, as shown in the episode ‘Rollercoaster’, Phineas was indeed optimistic about building a rollercoaster in his backyard which is something he and Ferb were able to do. Also, as shown in the episode ‘Phineas And Ferb Summer Belongs To You! Part II’, Phineas is quite optimistic about the summer and believes that summer belongs to everyone. And, once Blue Lantern Phineas heals Alpha Lantern Isabella, Phineas would probably do everything he can to comfort her since, as already mentioned, he does care about her.
