hal jordan & tglc is so fucking funny because in one of the stories, all four of the corpsmen are like. so horrendously serious about getting their smurfs back after ganthet and sayd get taken. the lengths they go to are insane and everyone has only good things to say about their favourite old married couple. great story, i love it, somar-le and ganthet almost always make me cry uncontrollably. point is, the guardians are reinstated after this story and are in power for the rest of the run.

and i fuck you not, in the next fucking issue, john and co. are IMMEDIATELY reminded of why they hate having the guardians in charge at all. like. immediately. kyle and hal (but mostly kyle) are getting their asses beat by zod and his fuckass family and the guardians are like 'hmmm idk...i feel like we shouldn't act :/'

the first order the guardians give, which is to not engage, and they basically immediately ignore it and fuck off to do their own thing. they really do put the most stubborn mfs in the same organisation and expect to be able to control them lmao.
