I think my most eye-opening experience in the realm of realizing I identified somewhere on the lgbt+ spectrum was in the summer before my first year in college. I still thought I was straight and I was still way way more depressed than I could even imagine and I was standing in a crowd of hundreds of other people surrounded by music. The lead singer of my favorite band told us about his coming out story and then played Sleeping With A Friend for us... it was in that moment that I thought maybe I wasn’t at all who I thought I was after all. A year later I stood in another crowd, next to my girlfriend at the time and chanted for Neon Trees to come on stage.

tldr; it took me way too long to realize I was gay but Neon Trees was there for me through it all.
