A very very minor thing I have been curious about for a while, and I'm finally asking: why do you calculate queue posting times the way you do? For example, if I set my queue to post 3x a day, naively I would expect it to post every 8 hours. But in reality it posts every 6 hours with a 12 hour gap between days. Why complicate the math like that?

Buckle up y’all, it’s story time again!
First: nobody who works at Tumblr right now was a part of the work of planning the default queue implementation, which was more than ten years ago. So the full story behind “Why does it work that way?” has unfortunately been lost to the sands of time. All we can do is tell you how it works today and surmise some reasons why. The queue is actually a very clever system and part of how it works explains some of why it works the way it does. Also, there have been attempts to do what you ask—we still have “Queue 2.0” available in your Tumblr Labs settings, which tries to get closer to how you expect things to work.
Anyway! How the queue works today is not actually a queue in the traditional sense. There is no single list of posts that are in “your queue”. Instead, when you “Add to queue” after creating a post, we’re actually scheduling it to post at a future time, as if you had used the “Schedule post” option instead. We’re just calculating that time on your behalf when you use “Add to queue”, based on your settings, and how many other scheduled posts you have already. We use a secondary “index” model, called “ScheduledPost”, to keep track of posts you have scheduled on your blog. We do mark the ones that are a part of “your queue”, but the data model doesn’t keep one list of your “queue” per se.
You can see this in action on your blog, hiding in plain sight. If you add a bunch of posts to your queue, and then schedule a post for a specific future date, you’ll see both in your blog’s “queue” list, side by side. Because technically to us, they’re the same thing: queued posts are really just another kind of scheduled post, relying on the same always-running service to publish scheduled posts across all of Tumblr. Here’s a fun fact: we typically have about ~14.5 million future posts to publish from this list at any given time and are publishing hundreds of these scheduled posts every second.
So when you’re adding a new post to your queue, what we’re doing behind the scenes is starting at the beginning of your “day”, and creating time slots based on your queue settings. If a time slot is already filled, we move on to the next one. That’s why the default queue scheduler works how you describe—we’re trying to fill those “slots” based on the start of the day, rather than trying to divide the calendar day evenly. This just makes it much simpler for us to understand, scale, and predict when our “peaks” will be. At peak times, the publish-scheduled-posts service is publishing tens of thousands of posts in a manner of seconds. We did rewrite that post-publishing part of this architecture a few years ago to improve its efficiency and solve a lot of “lost post” bugs, but we didn’t change how “Add to queue” works.
However, the Queue 2.0 project available in Labs was an attempt to change the queue system to work as you expect—instead of starting at [beginning of day] and creating enough slots to fit [number of slots] every [number of hours], it tries to divide the calendar day into [number of slots] and fit the result back to the original algorithm’s mapping of the day. We never productionized this alternative approach, because it has a few bugs that some blogs hit in extreme cases, and we’ve never had time to fully fix them. It also can cause a bit of weirdness when time zones diverge, like with daylight savings time. Also, a lot of people prefer the default algorithm, and we haven’t thought of a nice way to transition everyone from one to the other. So for now, both options exist, and you can choose which algorithm for queue-slot-generating you want to use. We hope that makes sense!
While complicated, it is a great example of a system built by engineers to make sense and be scalable and predictable. But sometimes these kinds of systems, while clever, aren’t very intuitive to understand without digging into how they work.

Do we have to include the word prompt and the theme in each drabble?
No - only the word prompt.
Themes were a suggestion by participants to help narrow down word choices and, if a participant would like, use in their drabbles. This is also helpful for those taking on an additional challenge.
If a drabble is submitted late, is it still accepted?
Yes! The A03 collection will remain open until the next drabble challenge (as to not cause confusion upon submission), and the tumblr tag is monitored for a week after the last day.
Of course, you are always welcome to take on a previous challenge whenever you want!
Can a different version of the word prompt be used?
Yes! Like we have stated in the rules, you can use whatever tense works best.
Example - Prompt: Run Run, Running, Ran, Runs would all be accepted!
Example -Prompt: Myth Myths, Mythology, Mythic would be accepted.
As long as the meaning of the word does not change, you're fine!
Is any type of writing not allowed?
Nope! As long as you wrote it, you can submit it! All we ask is that you properly tag your fandom and any content warnings for readers.
Generative AI works are not allowed. If you cannot write 100 words on your own, it may be time to find a new hobby.
I've noticed my submissions have not been reblogged - is it okay if I ask about it?
Yes! Admin is human, and we've grown quiet a bit. We don't want anyone who has taken the time to participate to be forgotten! We will not be upset if you reach out to us!
That being said, reblogs are queued. There might be a chance your post is in the list.
How does reblogging work?
As long as you have used the appropriate tag, Admin will queue the reblog with a specific-to-the-challenge tag for people to use to find submissions later.
Please note that the queue feature does have a max of 50 per day, and Admin has it set to run from 7AM CST (1PM UTC) to 11 PM CST (5AM UTC), as this tends to cover peak hours on tumblr.
Admin is also in CST, so things will naturally be based in this time zone.
As we gain more and more participants, depending on where your post falls, it might be a day or so before you see it reblogged due to the 50 posts limitation, especially at the beginning of the challenge.
This is not something that will be changing.
Should we submit drabbles on A03 as individual stories or as one story with each drabble being a new chapter?
Either, or! Whatever you prefer. We've had participants do both.

You know what? I'm writing a Wincest Wednesday Manifesto, because if I'm spending this much of my time running A Thing, I might as well have a post explaining it and my goals and intentions and answering the most frequent comments I get.
And yes, I'm posting it on a Tuesday, because I'm impatient.
What is Wincest Wednesday?
It's just the concept of doing Wincest things in our community on Wednesdays! For instance, @wincestwednesdays exists and has run prompt events. At various points in the past, there have been lots of people sending asks to each other about wincest on Wednesdays, or making posts asking for other people to post fics, or discuss various topics, or recommend things. It's whatever you make of it. It isn't one thing for one person, and if you want to start doing things on Wednesdays, you should! And also you should tell me about it so I can hype it up.
Okay but what do I specifically do?
@stanfordsweater started sending asks to people on Wednesdays. I thought this was a very cool and noble cause. But she has a life, so she had to stop. Understandable. Me, meanwhile? I work overnight every Tuesday into Wednesday, and there's usually at least a little dead time when all my residents are asleep, I've finished my charting, and I'm between sets of rounds. And because I sent them out in the wee hours of the morning EST, people have most of the day to answer them with it still being Wednesday. It's very convenient. So for like a year now, I've taken up the mantle. I come up with questions every week and copy-paste them into the inboxes of everyone who seems to like answering them. I keep a list of people who have answered in the past to send them out to. And then I reblog the answers. I used to just reblog them all at once, but these days there are like 25 people on my list and that's A Lot, so I'm going to start queueing instead. Which is fun because then it's spread out over the week!
Unsurprisingly, after like 50 Wednesdays I've broadened out a bit because there are only so many ways to ask about a ship without repeating yourself. So instead, I take the Wincest part to mean that I'm interacting within the wincest community. Not to say that I don't still ask about the ship, but there are a lot of other parts of the show to discuss, too.
Why?
So again, all this reasoning is pretty much stolen straight from Ava. I liked her goals. I don't have new ones of my own really.
These days, a lot of fandom discussion is concentrated in places like discord servers. That makes it really easy for fandoms to get insular and die. There's nothing wrong with chatting about a show with your friends — I do it all the time — but that's all anyone does, then when someone gets into a new show and looks it up on tumblr, they aren't going to see anything. They'll think the fandom is dead. And then that leads to a cycle where people stop posting meta and gifs and art and fic because no one is publicly engaging with them and it's just not great.
Supernatural ended 5 years ago. Yeah, it's one of the biggest and most historical fandoms, but if we don't make a conscious effect to keep it going? Things can dry up. If we want to have a community, we have to take it upon ourselves to incite discussions. Send asks! Reblog things! Comment! Having a designated day for it just makes it a little easier to do.
Also as I'm sure we have all noticed, there is a pretty big tendency in this fandom to get cliquey, start talking shit about people's takes, block anyone who disagrees with you even slightly, bitch about those samgirls or those deangirls, etc. And you know. That's also pretty damn bad for community and just no fun. So any way to spread positivity and ensure that we see different opinions and see each other as a community instead of adversaries is good.
I want to send out Wednesday asks
Please do! I don't have a monopoly on this! It wasn't even my idea to begin with! I just happen to have the right hours free, the desire for A Job and A Project, and unlike most of this website, no social anxiety, so I'm not afraid to bother two dozen people weekly. But you don't have to do that! You can just send two people a question on one Wednesday, and that's still fun and positive and community building. You don't have to make a full time job of it. I just have because I'm Like That.
That said, if anyone wants my list of people who like getting asks and at least occasionally respond, feel free to ask for it.

Please don't feel bad. I know how exhausting a new question every week is, because I'm the one who has to come up with them. Answer if and when you have the time and brainpower and energy and if the question sparks joy. Nothing personal if you don't. I get it.
I'm very aware that I have "likes to ramble" disorder (yes, that's a real actual schizophrenia symptom). I have no children. I have no pets. I have only job with a fair bit of downtime. I work 32 hours a week. I don't pick up shifts. I'm not in school. I know that other people have more shit to do. I'm disabled, so I get pretty damn overwhelmed by my 32 hours a week and taking care of just myself, so given that most of you seem to do more than that? Yeah no I am already impressed that you can just like, survive working a normal amount of hours or a semester of college. I am made of basically nothing but words--I know they're a lot harder for some other people than they are for me.
At this point, pretty much every time someone has gone quiet, they've eventually come back and thanked me for continuing to send asks. So I don't really plan on taking anyone off my list unless they ask me to or make a post saying they're leaving supernatural fandom.

So, no one has actually asked me to do this, but I often want to find old answers and can't, so. In November I'm getting top surgery. I'll be out of work for 6 weeks (which, to be clear in case anyone is thinking about getting it, that's longer than the normal recovery time. I just have a very physical job). And one of my plans for all that free time is to tag everything. To number each wincest wednesday question, tag them all with "wincest wednesday #x", and have a master post that lists all the questions with their numbers. And then if you want to see everyone's answers to any question, you'd just have to search on my blog for the tag. It will probably take absolutely forever, but I want to have it for me. Snippet: "No-" Wally's voice is rough with lingering dredges of sleep. It's hard to imagine less than an hour ago, he had been counting sheep in his borrowed bed. He clears his throat and tries again, pleading urgently with the nurse, "I'm alright. Please focus on the boy."
'Boy.' Jason is only fifteen, Wally's pretty sure. Tiny. Powerless. He should call Batman and demand answers. Why is Robin in Ethiopia and not Gotham? Where were you? He doesn't remember Barry questioning Batman's authority often. But Barry would've never let Kid Flash be in another country alone with no teammates and no mentor.

YJ tv:
Amazing fic it's set in the yj tv verse (after season 1), bUT it has a lot of elements from the comics (mostly Baron's and Messner-loebs runs) and integrates them so interestingly. You don't have to know about them as everything is amazingly explained within the fic and it focuses on Wally, has the flashfam, the team and also Birdflash. I was obsessed with it a few years back and I actually like some executions better than some of the comic ones. (I would pay to get a sequel tbh)...
Summary:
Wally is trying to heal and reassemble the shards of his life after surviving a brutal attack at the hands of his own father. His best friend and half the Justice League have no intention of letting him go through it alone, but they might not be enough. Rudy West is far from done with him.

Some issues between Barry and Wally(and just... Wally having issues but he's really just a kid here) and also with his parents and his powers.
Summary:
Wally West, a kid from Nowhere USA, meets the man he considers the greatest hero alive: The Flash. Within ten minutes, he's gained the same powers, but that doesn't immediately make him a sidekick.
Meanwhile, the Flash worries over having made a nine-year-old a metahuman, Barry Allen realises he kind of wants to adopt, and Iris West gets annoyed that she's twenty-three, struggling, and can't kidnap her nephew away from her jerk brother. It's a hard time all-round.

Some of these focus on his relationship with Rudy and I think most of the times it's not really portrayed accurately but I think, I've read virtually everything that focus on them cause that dynamic can be so complicated... Some game vs netflix scene comparisons
Just a follow up to my previous post because I'm not normal about this game (left side is from the game, right is the netflix version)
Here's a shot from the begining of the story. We see the old Order marching up the stairs towards something. The game emphasizes on the subjects, which is why the room looks dark. Even without seeing the End portal frames, by visual queues like the orange and purple glow that are seperated by a dark block, we can tell that they're walking towards an End portal. Netflix shot made the room a bit too visible, the viewer can now see the details on the cobblestone walls and the End portal frame blocks are also visible. The strong light source from the lava makes the viewers eyes drawn to it instead, making the object of interest change. The lava glow from the original shot does not take the attention away from the characters since we can see them all clearly.
