Susie's Relationships (from her perspective)

I thought I'd explore all my thoughts about Susie's major relationships in one place. If you're interested, feel free to follow along.

Susie gives us a fun little tidbit in Chapter 5: she thought that Kris and Noelle were a thing before getting to know them. There's a couple of possibilities inherent in this. One possibility is that she hated Kris because she was jealous of their relationship with Noelle - but I think it's deeper than that.

Susie was an outsider. She perceives Kris and Noelle as being close, but Kris is pulling away and - from Susie's perspective - neglecting their relationship. Yet Noelle still seems attached to them. This probably pissed Susie off more than anything. Here, Kris has the option to be lovey-dovey with an earnest childhood friend and yet they're choosing to be quiet and non-interactive instead. My guess: Susie thought "If someone was being that nice to me, I'd never squander it". Crucially, I don't think she was specifically crushing on Noelle, just that Noelle happens to be gentle and kind, which is something Susie yearned to be sent in her direction.

Fast forward to the start of the game. Susie is bitter. She's now decided she doesn't NEED any of that crap. it's too painful to wish for. She's doomed to be hated, and so she'll accept being feared instead. From here, let's establish how each relationship changes for each chapter manifests:

Chapter 1: * Lancer: Susie sees an earnest, unironic boy who she relates to, and it allows her to open up. It also sets her against Kris, who she hates, and Ralsei who she just sees as lame. Eventually, Lancer's kindness puts them all on the same side... until Lancer betrays her. He even lies to her and keeps quiet. But as she finds out, people who are quiet, people who lie to you can still love you. * Kris: As said before, she felt jealous of Kris. Kris, with a loving family, yet who seemed to neglect their kindness. Whose silence infuriated her, because how dare they act like they feel nothing when they have it so good. Yet, Kris protects her. Kris guides her. And Kris is fun to be around, when you give them a chance. She realizes Kris isn't so bad. Kris is friend. * Ralsei: Susie doesn't think much of Ralsei yet. She sees Ralsei as pathetic. But Ralsei never stops trying to reach out to her. In the end, Ralsei finally gets through to her with patience and kindness... and she doesn't even get mad at Ralsei for healing the King. Her feelings have yet to take shape.

Chapter 2: * Noelle: They finally get some one-on-one time. Susie starts to get an inkling that Noelle likes her, but she still doesn't know if Kris and Noelle are a thing, so she keeps her distance out of respect for her best friend. But she's also holding back less, and enjoying her company. * Kris: Susie's unabashed joy at seeing Kris after class is palpable. It's clear that she adores them... but at the same time, she still refuses to play second fiddle to Kris. This will be discussed more in Ralsei's section. * Ralsei: Susie and Ralsei take their biggest backseat in this chapter, but ironically that gives them a nice bit of offscreen pair development. Ralsei and Susie go on a date together, kinda. They have cotton candy, and Ralsei teaches Susie how to heal, while Susie teaches Ralsei how to R-Act, providing Ralsei the ability to do MERCY actions without being directed by Kris. * Berdly: Although Susie doesn't like him, he does fall for her after she is nice to him. Worth mentioning, I suppose. * The relationship teas: Every relationship has the same "120 HP" heal for her. We can see that a massive crush like Noelle's is 400 HP. Kris also has a crush on Susie, and that's worth 120 HP. I think it's reasonable to conclude Susie loves everyone the same amount. That she doesn't prioritize anyone's feelings. (yet?)

Chapter 3: * Ralsei: Susie and Ralsei's relationship deepens even more. They play video games together while you're away. At the start, Susie realizes that Ralsei's softness belies a lack of self worth, and that deeply bothers her. The idea that Ralsei is insignificant deeply upsets her. What I find interesting is that she COULD have framed her arguments around "The dark worlds matter to me!" but instead, her argument was "YOU matter to me!". The fact that Ralsei can't go to the Festival affects her as well. * Kris: Susie gets to see more of Kris's trauma unfold in front of her. The erosion of the family. It's not fully sinking in yet, but Susie gets to walk a little bit in Kris's shoes. She shares some of her soda, and then you can see an optional scene where she presses her hair into their face. * Both Kris and Ralsei: When fighting the Knight, Susie talks about how important to her it is that Kris and Ralsei are fighting beside her.

Chapter 4: * Noelle: Susie finally starts really getting the hint that Noelle and Kris are not together, and that Noelle is REALLY into her. After being cautious, she takes a step and decides to try reciprocating Noelle's feelings. * Ralsei: In Castle Town, Susie notices that Ralsei's room is barren, and resolves to give Ralsei more of an identity, more possessions. In the Sanctuaries, Susie first feels dejected because Ralsei is so much better at healing than her. Ralsei wants to get this Dark World over with as fast as possible to keep anybody from learning the prophecy, but to Susie, it feels like she's unimportant. Then, Susie starts to get her groove back when she heals Jack. In the Second Sanctuary, Susie's frustration at someone being silent roars up again... but this time, it's not framed as hatred, but the pain of love. She trusts Ralsei, so why can't Ralsei do the same? At the end of the Chatper, Susie learns the prophecy's tragic side, and she now takes the role of the comforting Ralsei. * Kris: Susie and Kris can spend a lot of time together in this chapter. The diner, sharing fruit juice. Susie will give Kris one of the stars on Asriel's side of the room. The two are very in sync in this chapter. For whatever reason, I don't have much to say about it, maybe I need to replay the Light World section. * Gerson: Susie gets a mentor. Gerson guides Susie and helps her have faith in herself while ragebaiting her. She appreciates it greatly, and her self esteem rises several stages. Of course, then she wants to go see him again, but she can't summon him in her own dark world. We see the horrifying reality of what happens when Susie starts to get abused by someone she trusts. She starts to blame herself at first, and even apologizes, prohibiting Kris from doing any harm. The worst part...? That while being attacked by someone she thought she trusted, that person was totally silent. Maybe there's another reason Susie hates quiet people so much that we don't even know yet.

Chapter 5: * Noelle: Front and center in the Light World is Susie having a blast with Noelle and vice versa. But while the fun parts are front and center, there's a few troubling signs that the future isn't as bright as it might appear. First, Noelle and Susie force Kris to decide how their date goes instead of taking their own initiative. Why does Susie do this, when her whole thing is that she takes charge? She doesn't want to screw it up? No, I think it's that she doesn't know what she's supposed to be feeling. Susie isn't ready for romantic love yet. She's rushing it (because of the impending End Of The Prophecy?). There's a weird mismatch in her and Noelle's relationship, shown by what happens in the Ferris Wheel and the strength tester. Perhaps the game will have them struggle and then make it through in the end... but I'm concerned that their relationship has several ominous signs that it will not last. Also, in Side B, the date still goes as planned, but Noelle tries to give her all the money she owns. Susie seems to know this means Noelle no longer has any attachment to her life. And she feels SUPER left out. * Kris: In Side A, Kris feels like the third wheel. But in Side B, Susie feels like the third wheel and KRIS ISN'T EVEN ON THE DATE. Still, she notices that Kris isn't doing too hot and tries her best to cheer them up. There's a few signs that she's a lot more worried that she's showing, that she doesn't want to lose Kris or Noelle, but she's trying to have faith in them. I think Festival Side B is the gentlest she ever gets. Okay, back to Side A. At the beginning of the chapter, Susie's hair is spotted in Kris's DW bed, which she is very defensive about. Unfortunately, by the end of the Chapter, Susie knows Kris isn't telling her something. She probably even suspects they're working with the Knight. But the first four chapters have taught her that people can hide things without actually wanting to hurt you. Some combination of willful blindness, faith and wishful thinking is preventing her from confronting them. The idea that if she said "I know you're lying to me", things might be over. So she tells them at the end, "this can't just be a you and me thing anymore". * Ralsei: Susie is more in the background in this Dark World than in most. She's way more comfortable in the Dark World than in the Light World. Ralsei's aggression seems to hit her in a weird place. When Ralsei makes fun of Orange and screams at Flowery, Susie tries to pipe up, but she's not used to being the peacemaker. The Orange conflict in particular seems to hit her in a weak spot, which Ralsei doesn't notice. Ralsei saves Susie at one point by incinerating a shuriken that was aimed at her back. At the end of the chapter, we see that Susie is now essentially living with Ralsei, probably intending to make this her permanent home.

Predictions for the rest of the chapters: * Noelle: Possibility 1: everything seems great at the start of the chapter, and then they fall apart by the end, and Susie is embittered to the Light World entirely. Possibility 2: Things fall apart quickly, and the two are at odds until they have a third act reconciliation. * Ralsei: Susie and Ralsei have already had their big emotional scene in Chapter 4. I think Susie finally trusts Ralsei, even if Ralsei doesn't say everything they know. Since I'm Genderfluid Ralsei Gang, I think in the prologue of Chapter 6, we'll see that Ralsei and Susie have been experiementing with Ralsei's presentation. Maybe Susie will also confide in Ralsei behind your back, and Ralsei will tell Susie more about what Kris is up to.(now that Susie is more understanding and Ralsei is more open) * Kris: I think Susie will actually take Kris's double dealing in stride. She won't explode at them, but she might fight them until she can get through to them. I think she's reaching the point where instead of getting mad, she just wants to understand. Just wants them to reach out and explain.

Hiiii!!! I just wanted to say I LOVE your analysis posts on Spamton! I feel like with all the memes and, in part, the way he speaks makes it difficult for people to see the better (less jerk-ish) and less comical parts of his character.

It's so odd to me that during chapter 2 half the fandom gave him so much angst and realized that he was a victim to a lot of things but then chapters 3 and 4 came out and since people had a clearer picture of Spamton being a Not ENTIRELY Reliable narrator, everyone seemed to think he was lying about a LOT of things in relation to other characters and began believing Anyone Else over Spamton. (Like how they took Tenna's side COMPLETELY without second thought! Completely ignoring all nuance between the two characters!)

As someone who's always found Spamton interesting, and "The Tenna Guy" to some of my friends on Discord (whomst I've shared some of your Spamton analysis posts with), it makes me so happy to see someone speak about Spamton's side of things, and how Tenna *isn't* the best, most innocent person. (Haha I guess you're like "The Spamton Guy" to my "Tenna Guy" then, right? (Even if I don't really post my analysis on Tumblr.))

Sorry for the long reply, I think I got a little bit carried away! xD

Spamton is indeed a difficult character to begin to understand, he has a very different speech quirk from the other characters which can make understanding more difficult, especially when English is not the first language (oh boy, I suffered so much when ch2 was released! xD)

And then we have almost every character who had some kind of relationship with Spamton talking bad about him. And these are characters who are easier to understand, more attractive (I unironically think this is also an important fact, especially in fandom spaces lol) and more charismatic than Spamton, which makes it even harder to understand Spamton's side of the story.

But that's because they can hide their flaws through charisma, or they speak so confidently that we go on autopilot agreeing with them and thinking they're right without questioning too much. But stopping to think and analyze Spamton's situation and the actions and words of the other characters, we begin to realize that maybe they're not such reliable narrators, or maybe they're not even that nice. Maybe they just mistakenly think they're the good guys in the story. Because maybe knowing a person who has been homeless for years and not doing anything to help is a bad thing, your partner having a panic attack not being your priority is a bad thing, maybe the boss who we see and hear his employees being mistreated is not an innocent angel, maybe the butler who is okay with the queen mistreating darkners who are not aristocracy, hurting/threatening/kidnapping the teen lightners (even if she had no sadistic intentions) is perhaps not such a nice or in the right.

Not only that, but there's a lot about Spamton in its subtext and implications. Honestly, to this day, I still have epiphanies or discover something new! XD

A huge portion of the fandom (even the spamtenna part of the fandom!!) doesn't know that Spamton was trying to sell the wedding ring that was meant for Tenna in the Sweepstakes, or that Pipis is alive and cries if she enters Spamton's room. Or that Spamton spent 10 years thinking Tenna didn't care about him, but just keeping her in the closet as a secret for those 10 years means he does.

Spamton can be summed up in this meme lmao:

Many people don't even know that Spamton had a religious psychosis because it's optional dialogue with the Swatchlings, or that Swatch sells Spamton's tie with the brand removed for twice the price Spamton sells it for. Many people don't realize that during the fight, Kris describes Spamton praying to a non-existent audience and then begging them not to take his furniture (he's hallucinating). Or that Spamton has self-esteem issues and is suicidal and depressed. Or that he's terrible at games or sometimes GNC. Or that he's canonically disabled. Or that he's okay with being attacked if he's paid.

But once we know all this information, it becomes much easier to understand him as a character! He tried to be a good person and lost everything because of it. He became this way after being neglected, betrayed, and abandoned by everyone he knew and trusted, and he also knows things no one should know. The other characters who also know what he knows until now are Jevil who went insane and Seam who became very depressed, or Ralsei who... oh boy this poor teen is trying so hard to hold it together but almost every scene he's having a breakdown and/or existential crisis. Chapter 2 is Spamton at his worst, and he'd been at his worst for at least 10 years. Basically, the fear Tenna had in Chapter 3 had been Spamton's reality for years, and as a bonus, he no longer had a home while everyone erased him or refused to talk about him, and his body glitched and he became a puppet, and disabled too.

I think that also because he's a funny character, many people think he's just that and nothing more. Which I find a bit strange because other Toby Fox characters who are also funny also have depth! The funny part of Spamton is just the first layer of him.

I have a theory that a large part of the fandom treats Spamton this way now as if he were no longer the victim of anything for several reasons, one of which is fear of mischaracterization or woobifying him. One example is how some people gets really angry and say Sans wouldn't cry if Papyrus died, and to combat this they act like Sans wouldn't care. And because of this fear, they also mischaracterize Spamton! (I swear if I see another fanart with Spamton having toxic masculinity or him wanting his relationship with Tenna to be just business, I'm gonna commit /j).

Or there's also is a lot of ableism and prejudice/dehumanization of homeless people in the fandom, they don't treat Spamton like they would treat other characters, they don't seem to understand the gravity of his situation.

And also people nowadays are a bunch of cowards /hj and are afraid to like the tumblr sexyman. And they are afraid to like a "grown ass man" (literally all the other characters that everyone simps are also grown ass adults lmao) who is insane (ableism) and lives in the garbage (again the prejudice against homeless people)

Many people have also come to the conclusion that Spamton is suffering from karma, when there are many more indications that Spamton was being very honest and a good person. And Spamton wouldn't be the first Undertale/Deltarune character to have this happen to them!! We've had Flowey this whole time! (I made a post about this too)

I also think Spamton is suffering the Chara treatment by the fandom. It seems like the fandom wants some character to blame for everything bad we do when we play, but Spamton and Chara point out to the player's face how horrible we are being. But they both (as well as many other characters) are also capable of being good if we are good and show that there's a pacifist and merciful way to deal with the situation, they need help and kindness to recognize that there is another way. Hell in Spamton's case, the most we have to do to make him be good is just not use Noelle and hurt other darkners. He'll decide to help us even if we don't even try to free him.

And I had no idea about it either, but some people make animation/fanarts/fanfics without even having played the game, so it's like the game of telephone whispers that moves further and further away from canon. So this also happens. People just read what Tenna said and just assume that Tenna is telling the truth and is a super reliable narrator (he's not!!)

The part about everyone taking Tenna's side, like I said before I think it's because he's more charismatic than Spamton, and also because I think he's a new character? Like, I remember how people in the early days put Tenna as such a great boss and his relationship with Ramb is so wholesome when in reality they have beef and Ramb is excluded by everyone. Or how Gerson is flawless when his son is quite insecure and couldn't even finish his father's books. I really appreciate that even after his death he is still trying to fix his flaws and encourage his son, but he is not flawless as the fandom thinks. There are no flawless characters in Deltarune, even the Nice Cream Guy is catfishing Burger/Pizzapants.

This makes me wonder if another character appeared in ch5 talking bad about Tenna, people would just agree with them and think Tenna is horrible and irredeemable too lmao.

thoughts on deltarune?

M: We've already posted about it once before, but why not answer this fun ask? Actually, all of us are in the UTDR community to some degree, but especially Yuri and I. I'm a big fan of visual novel-adjacent games, and generally games with deep, memorable stories. Undertale was one of the first RPGs I played as a kid, and I'm very interested in Deltarune's story as well. I find the relationship between Kris and the SOUL/player particularly compelling, and how, no matter what you do, even if you're all but kind towards their friends and want nothing but the best for them, they still hate you for your intrusion in their life. If I had someone beyond my understanding controlling what I do or say, I'd probably go crazy, ahaha! Y: I believe it's most appropriate for me to go next, then. As you might know, I'm a big fan of RPGs, and that was what drew me into Undertale and Deltarune. I've been in the community for a long time now, enjoying both the compelling stories and unique gameplay that Toby Fox has woven into reality. I also find myself relating to Noelle in some aspects, and I am particularly drawn to Susie. N: Yeah, I've seen those DMs where you sent me yuri of that deer girl and lizard girl and said "Us." God, I wish I'd look anything like a big buff butch with a wolf cut. Y: Well, don't you send me pictures of that girl from your game, Mafuyu, and say she's just like me? While we might look similar, it seems our personalities are very different. She's cold and emotionless, while I'm withdrawn but very in-tune with my emotions. I see it as two sides of the same coin. N: You know what? Crap, your're right. We know enough about each other's things. That's a natural part of relationships. Speaking of, I played Undertale as a kid too. I was also into those kinds of games at the time. I'm more into rhythm games now. It started with Geometry Dash and took off from there. Oh, have I talked about it on here before? Either way, I'm heavily into Vocaloid and Project Sekai. But I do know some stuff about Deltarune. I know the memes, too. Haven't played it myself, though. I'm considering buying it for myself when the story is done, because I don't want to wait months for a chapter that lasts around 4 hours. Seriously, why is he taking so long just to retell a fever dream that changed his life? M: You said the thing! N: Yeah, yeah. Anyway, it's hard not to know this stuff when these two are heavily into it. S: I guess it's only me left, then! I'm not used to being the last one, ehehe... I'm actually a big Undertale fan. It had a significant impact on my childhood, and I remember some of the lines to this day. Quotes like "Despite everything, it's still you." and "someone out there really cares about you, kid." Have unironically carried me through some hard times. As for Deltarune, though, I played the demo of the first couple chapters, excluding the secret bosses, and watched a walkthrough for the rest. Some of the bosses got too hard for me, so while I decided the full game wasn't exactly for me, I still watched the rest for the story. I actually really like Ralsei. He's very cute, and I relate to him in some aspects. I even have the plushie in my collection. He's so soft and adorable. You know how Tenna's Feacher shows a weird Ralsei with black horns? But that doesn't make sense, right? Tenna presumably hadn't met Ralsei by that point. You know who also looks like Ralsei? Yeah. Azzy. Asriel has black horns.

That IS an interesting thought in relation to the whole AzzyKnight theory I've cooked up. It would be super interesting in retrospect!

Tenna would have made this particular 'VHS' based on Kris's description of Ralsei, probably. It's not totally unreasonable to think that Kris might have described him as "Like Asriel, but with glasses and a green robe with black sleeves" and maybe however the head looks vaguely different, and just...didn't mention the pink horns.

It could just be a limited 3-color palate for the style and white would've been too hard to differentiate from the fur. But if I turn out to be right....I mean. I'm gonna point back to this!

(And this blog as a whole, unironically made it cause I was tired of not having receipts whenever my theories ended up being true.)

I genuinely wonder what people get from just, taking the player out of the story, like? What do you get from this???

Does it make the story better in their head?? Because I've seen people genuinely say that unironically, and say that it's better that way, but like? How?

The fandom has always completely and utterly failed to take responsibility when the game directly calls them out on doing bad routes, and that the decisions made to get there are the players decisions.

“Why would Chara do this” is a popular meme now for a reason, because people wanted a villain and pointed at Chara due to their No Mercy speech despite the fact that they clearly say it was your power and your doing that brought the world to its edge, and you cannot accept it.

I’ve seen similar Kris related theories cropping up where people bend over backwards to get rid of like half of the game’s narrative to make everything Kris’ fault. Kris did Snowgrave in some people’s minds and the player doesn’t exist. (Ignore the fact that Noelle is quite explicit about hearing the player’s voice especially when Kris is down lmao)

I don’t get it either. People seem to equate being meta with being bad, despite how rich Deltarune’s story is when you factor in the connection we have with the games as a whole. Maybe it’s retaliation for early UT fandom hyper focusing on the reset aspect of UT? But even then I don’t get it, because early fandom never factored in the player lmao.

Some people don’t want the story to include a meta aspect so they project other things onto it. Sure. Whatever. However, I see those same people insist that their theories are better in a weird purist way like they’re better for being “untainted” by the meta when Deltarune’s meta narrative and narrative work hand in hand. One is not overtaking the other. Your connection to this game is slowly being taken into account and you’re slowly about to be discovered. Even if you’re discovered though, the story is still screeching forward. Maybe people are just scared to be a part of the story.

I also wonder if it’s a symptom of negative player theories being so prevalent. What kinda person wants to participate in a metanarrative that just uses them as a punching bag despite doing nothing wrong? That’s not what DELTARUNE is trying to do, and the player is a positive force deserving of agency as well in normal routes. I just wonder if the fandom being so “you’re bad for existing and should eat shit at the end and Kris smiles while you vanish and Susie beats the shit out of you” soured people’s opinion of what is a really damn good metanarrative.

Ok so i saw this string of thoughts on Twitter right (@SirSealVT & @neoShootingstar) and I'm just gonna string it all together into one big post and maybe add some of my own points/ thoughts (everything is under the cut) :

It all starts with the realization that Susie isn't The Girl in the Prophecy, she just doesn't fit, Ralsei mentions The Girl is supposed to wear the ribbons armors we find, which Susie doesn't do (you quite literally can't equip those on her), the images shown whenever The Girl is mentioned do not ressemble Susie at all either.

This may look like Rude Burster at first glance but it is too round and circular to be that, Rude Burster is sharper and triangular and instead of 3 "slices" Rude Burster only has a singular.

Instead what the Prophecy is showing is the ACT action icon.

And still could work, Susie is the one to introduce teammate ACTs (S-action and R-action) separate of Kris, so she still has a somewhat important relation to the ACT system.

The second image used by the Prophecy to describe The Girl however...

...clearly depicts a girl holding a sword, not an axe like Susie.

If Susie isn't supposed to be The Girl, then who is? I already teased it with the ACT image, but it is speculated to be Noelle, i mean she seemingly has the most important role outside of the main playable cast, and also according to reddit user u/NigouLeNobleHiboux if you hack in Noelle in your party she is able to equip both JingleBlade and BlackShard no other swords which seems like it was made on purpose, the JingleBlade is probably just for the joke, but the BlackShard which is only obtainable if you have the Shadow Mantle and beat the optional boss fight Roaring Knight (technically the shadow mantle is not mandatory but most people aren't mentally ill enough to attempt the knight without it) so Noelle being able to use it would fit with the depiction of The Girl.

But hold on, isn't the Prophecy all mighty accurate? Shouldn't we be with Noelle if she truly is The Girl.

Well allow me to introduce you to one feathered idiot.

Yup, unironically Berdly is the reason the Prophecy isn't prophecy-ing currently.

But why is that? Well remember in the beginning of Chapter 1, we were supposed to be with Noelle, she was about to ask Alphys if Kris could join their team, but Berdly intervened and while ranting, Susie showed up and there we go, we got the wrong Girl on the team, a girl not eager to be a hero, a girl who says "fuck you i do what i want", a girl who doesn't follow the soul mindlessly, ready to ignore directions, a free girl who will die before her freewill is overwritten.

But hold on, isn't Berdly the idiot who stopped the Prophecy solely like that because of a spelling bee he won (okay it's deeper than that but we aren't here for a Berdly analysis).

And how did he lose? Ah right because Noelle didn't spell December.

And here we see a magnificent Domino effect :

December Holiday dissapears -> Noelle loses Spelling Bee and Berdly wins -> Berdly stops Noelle from joining Kris and "forces" Susie to be with Kris -> The Prophecy is now inaccurate/wrong -> The fate of the world will change and its future is no longer predetermined.

Dess is the start and end of Deltarune, The Girl of the prophecy is the same girl who caused it to fail.

Well to give credit where credit is due, the Prophecy isn't 100% inaccurate, it's still somewhat rights on what happens in the chapters but whatever the end of it that Susie saw? I don't think she will just do what it tells her to do, she didn't like what she saw so she will do everything to not make it happen.

Bonus : Snowgrave and Weird Route

So killing Berdly, and slowly forcing Noelle back into the team by manipulating her and driving Susie away, uh. Really seems like Snowgrave is all about setting the record straight and fixing the broken Prophecy to go back in line and do as it tells us.

unpopular roaring knight identity theory (maybe)

Unironically, i think the roaring knight might be Rudy holiday.

like. yeah, it could be carol, but that's such an obvious red herring, and even though she's related to whatever the hell is going on with kris, I think she's unlikely to be the knight.

it could also be dess, but since we don't currently have enough info about what happened to her, it's kind of a 50/50 chance that it is her.

Now, what do we know about Rudy?

When we first meet him, he is already bedridden from an unknown disease, and when probed, he always says that he's in the hospital for a few tests but avoids talking about specifics. The game does seem to want to hint that whatever his condition is, it might be more serious than he's letting on, but on the other hand, we still don't know why or when he started to be sick.

so my theory is that he is the knight and the great amount of power the knight wields is taking its toll on rudy's health. and the other part of my theory is that rudy has been acting on his own for a bit, and this is where carol is stepping into play: I think both carol and rudy are the voices in the phone that kris is listening to when they're in their mansion.

I think this is why Kris is in their current predicament: they made a promise to Carol and Rudy to help finding Dess, because Rudy has been pushing himself to his limits and maybe he's starting to act up or something. So, i think that whatever the knight's goal is, it might have something to do with the disappearance/death of dess and who'd be most willing to do whatever it takes to get dess back than her own family?

anyhow, this is just me throwing ideas at the wall, and I might be completely wrong in the end, but I haven't seen anyone yet talk about the possibility of Rudy being the Knight. so that's that. Enough theorizing from me for a while!
