Okay! Okay! I've been working on this one for since forever. It's Season four. Adrien resigns after his not being in on the plan backfires on team miraculous. Marinette is distraught but still insistent she can't know Chat's identity because of Chat Blanc. Alya proposes that SHE be the one to know his identity to act as go between. Then it's her job to keep the two of them in communication while also not tipping them off to one another. She's going insane and Nino is her anchor. She gets more close to all of them while this is happening. She might even fall in love more than she already is. It's supposed to focus on ALYA'S relationships with each of them, but all the corners of this OT4 square get some attention in this one because I was having too much fun.
I actually finished chapter one earlier this month. I didn't post it because I have so many wips right now, and don't think this one will take center stage any time soon and it's kinda looking like it'll be a big fic. But... could probably be talked into it pretty easily if literally any ONE person wants to read it and is willing to be super patient!

Alya waited by her phone for Marinette to call, chewing the inside of her cheek. She shouldn’t have chewed Chat Noir out like that. She knew he could be sensitive and it definitely was not his fault that Marientte was ridiculous about secret identities.
Her phone buzzed in her hand. Alya glanced down.
Marinette:
I’m going to be akumatized.
The words blurred as Alya read them. Damn that stupid cat! What did he say?!
Alya:
Where are you?
Marinette:
In my room.
Alya transformed immediately and took off towards Marinette’s balcony. She dropped through the skylight barely slowing down. Marinette was curled in the fetal position at the foot of her bed, sobbing brokenly.
Marinette had never looked so small.
Gone was the clever and confident superhero everyone looked up to and relied upon. No one else ever got to see the Ladybug that overthought and doubted herself, the girl who was so nervous she couldn’t complete an intelligible sentence in front of her crush, the girl who took responsibility for everyone in their class and their city, the girl who felt so much and so deeply when she saw others were hurting.
Alya dropped to the bed, not bothering to detransform. Her arms wrapped around Marinette. Alya wished she could do something, anything at all to ease Marientte’s wracking sobs.
Ok but Alya and Adrien being an absolute chaotic duo is what I live for. Soo headcanons for the great girl who deserves Love
- The two started hanging out when Nino and Marinette left them alone for a few minutes to get something to eat while they were on a double date and they found out they have a love for anime and movies.
- They gush about their respective partners together, even gushing about their bffs too.
Adrien: Have you seen Ninos eyes?
Alya: I know right! But Marinettte with her hair down?
Adrien: I knoow!!
- Two dorks in love. And when it comes to their Hero personas its so much worse. They chase each other around a lot, and theyre always ready to throw hands with the akuma and Ladybut and Caprice needs to stop them-
- Alya help Adrien become more assertive and upfront with his feelings, and even encouraged him to experiment with his clothes.
- Alya also helped Adrien realize he was bisexual cuz the way he looked at Nino and Luka definitely wasn't straight and as a Bisexual herself, she would know.
- Alya doesnt stop being friends with Marinette or Adrien just cuz they dont like Lila, she realizes sometimes people just dont click and shes okay with that and yeah..Lilas constant bragging grates her nerves but she doesnt out right hate her.
- Until she finds out Lila not only threatened Marinette but she keeps harassing Adrien and making his life harder. Shes ready to THROW HANDS. And Ninos not even gonna stop her.
- Alyas young siblings adore Adrien, hes really good with kids and Alya says this..with a subtle/not so subtle nudge towards Marinette. (Who promptly short circuits)
- Chloe slowly joins in on the chaotic duo once she starts her redemption and Marinette and Nino are Tired™ cuz these three will square up with God for their friends, have no sense of self preservation and continue to disobey rules.
- Adrien and Alya are super cuddly and just absolutely Bastards. As a cat and fox respectively no ones surprised.
- Alya is ready to fight Gabriel in a parking lot, Nino, Marinette and Chloe fully agree.
- When Lila claimed to be Rena Rouge Alya absolutely pointed out how their skin tones and body types dont match AT ALL.
- Feels bad for just assuming Marinette was just jealous of Lila but she genuinely thought that was what was happening until she explained what happened with Kagami and she realized the two just dont like each other.
- Alya though when she was still friends with Lila she didnt stop hanging out with Marinette and continued to shut down whatever complaint Lila was trying to make about Marinette
-Alya screams when shes excited, and whenever it snows she jumps straight into it.
- she deletes the Lila posts on her blogs- she was just excited to hear about Ladybug but after thinking it through she realizes its not too smart.
- Really good writer, and very observant though sometimes she gets too interested in the scope and misses the bigger picture, shes tryna work on that.
AU also includes Plagg only hating transforming when it’s Adrien doing it, because Adrien never listens to him and has blackmailed and betrayed him multiple times. He has nothing against transforming itself, just Adrien and people like him. Kwami in this are not bound to obey their holder, they have a choice. The only reason Plagg stayed with Adrien so long is because Adrien was manipulating him, and convinced him that there was no better option.
Alya doesn’t know it yet, but she, her mother, and her sisters are all shapeshifters. What form they can shapeshift into when their powers awaken depends on too many factors to count.
Not all children of shapeshifters will become one, and the need to keep the secret is instinctive, so even though it has obvious drawbacks, no one is told that it might happen to them until after it’s happened.
Alya’s mother can shapeshift into a black panther, Anansi can shapeshift into a yellow garden spider (argiope aurantia), and when Alya finds herself cornered by an Akuma one day, with no rescue in sight, her blood filled with adrenaline, rage, and fear, she finds out that she can shapeshift into a sabre-toothed tiger. Smilodon Fatalis.
Unfortunately, just because she can bite and claw doesn’t mean she knows how to fight, and the only reason she isn’t captured or killed is because Chat Noir--who was lounging on a nearby rooftop sunbathing, the source of her rage--swoops down and saves her just in the nick of time.
Thankfully, the Akuma that was attacking her was a clone of the real Akuma, and it disappears in a puff of smoke when he destroys it.
He saw her transform, he knows its her.
Alya is horrified. In a way she can’t even begin to describe. It’s just gut-wrenching, visceral terror. Especially when he begins to--what is he doing?
He’s....he’s gloating? He’s gloating?!!? About rescuing her?? About finding out her secret??? Telling her she owes him now??? That he’ll keep her secret but only if she helps him find out Ladybug’s secret identity?!?!?!??!
The terror, the shock, the rage, it’s all too much. Every instinct in her is SCREAMING at her that he can’t know who she is, he can’t be allowed to tell anyone--
She doesn’t lose control.
Saying that she lost control would imply that she didn’t want to do what she did, that she regrets doing it, that she wouldn’t do it again if given the chance to go back and change things.
She didn’t lose control.
He perched there on top of the broken wall, his cat’s teeth bared in a smirk, telling her horrible things, asking her to do horrible things, smiling like the world was at his feet, like it was Christmas, like none of this mattered at all.
She did not lose control of herself.
She coiled her muscles, her voice tearing out of her throat in a snarl, and launched herself at him with all her strength,
Her paw, the size of a dinner plate, slammed into his face, and her claws cut the smirk right off his mouth. She dragged him to the ground before he could even cry out, and her teeth found his neck through nothing but instinct. It took only a minimal amount of effort to put an end to his gloating forever.
It was over within a few seconds of starting. There wasn’t even any blood--probably thanks to the way Miraculouses worked.
It took her--she didn’t even know how long to calm down enough to transform back. But eventually she figured it out, and stared at the body of what had once been--once thought to have been on of Paris’ heroes.
She thought about it for a long time, weighing the pros and cons, wondering how the Miraculous Ladybugs would affect everything--before she eventually caved, and took the Ring of the Black Cat off his clawed hand.
Surprisingly, Chat Noir didn’t transform back to whoever he really was, even after she put the ring on.
But a kwami appeared, a black cat with searing green eyes. It didn’t seem surprised to see her, didn’t seem too upset by the fact that its holder was dead. It floated in front of her, eyeing her a calm scrutiny. Somehow, it felt familiar. Like a long lost friend.
“Your name is Alya, right?” It said, its voice higher than she’d been imagining.
She nodded, not knowing what else to do. “And you’re Plagg.”
She didn’t know where the name came from, but it felt right.
Plagg nodded, still not seeming surprised by any of this. “And your mom’s name is Marlena?”
And it still didn’t feel strange at all for it to know that. She nodded again.
It smiled. “Well, kitten, I have good news and bad news. Good news is, you’re perfectly matched to use my Miraculous, and I’m very grateful you took care of this creepazoid for me. Bad news is, there’s still an Akuma on the rampage, and Ladybug needs help. Also, whether this is good news or bad news is up to you, but you’ve got to help her. I think you know the magic words?”
Alya smiled. “Please?”
Plagg rolled its eyes. “Alright kid, you get one joke per fight, that’s it. That guy used up my tolerance for goofing off and being an idiot for at least a few days.”
Alya’s smile fell as she remembered what Chat Noir had done--trying to blackmail her so she would help him betray Ladybug.
“Plagg,” She said, the words coming to her just as easily as his name had, “Claws out.”
He leapt into the ring like a cat after a mouse, and the transformation rushed over her. His mind swirled into hers, and the boundaries between them disappeared. She could hear every one of his thoughts and he could hear every one of hers.
And that’s when she found out Chat Noir’s secret identity, along with every one of the abuses he had visited upon Plagg. All the time he had lied to him and blackmailed him and guilt-tripped him and betrayed him. All the misery and anger and guilt and despair he had caused Plagg to feel. All the disgust and horror that Plagg felt from the way Chat Noir--ADRIEN AGRESTE--treated Ladybug. The way Adrien had never been her friend, not the way she was his. The way he’d just stood there and watched while Marinette’s parents almost got crushed, and the Akuma threw a fucking statue into Marinette’s bedroom.
Now she knew everything.
She didn’t regret killing him, but she was a little disappointed he wouldn’t live to see her drag his name through the mud.
She left his body there, and went flying off through the sky to help Ladybug.
There would be plenty of time later to reveal his secrets to the world--
I dont understand how Alya Salters came up with Alya being some abusive, irresponsible bitch??? Like..LOOK AT HER SHES ADORABLE!!! She cares about her friends and family so much.
Yeah shes head strong, occasionally impulsive but that doesnt mean she'll turn into a bully?? Like yall go hard for no reason, over ONE episode. Like yall need to chill.
And even go so far as to replace her with Chloe of all people (I love her ofc but if shes there just to replace Alya its..ugh)
Also..stop making a black girl overly aggressive and abusive. Its shadey as shit especially if youre not black like..think about WHY youre doing it and why tf its necessary to butcher a poc character for no reason. Especially since shes like..the only black female character (Recurring one) its..weird and very fucking annoying. Especially if its allll over the lila salt tag. Even though Lilas the only one that really deserves the salt.
Also people take the fox Miraculous from her and its just..hm (this happens in a lot of salt fics. Where marinette ends up taking someones miraculous..usually Adrien or Alya cuz..ya know. Whatever)
And this all happened from ONE episode that wasnt even that bad. Chameleon wasnt the worst episode. Literally thw only scene that aggravated me was the napkin scene. But Alya suspecting Marinette of being jealous made sense! Also. Marinette admitted to following them, and what else is Alya suppose to assume?? She doesnt know any other reason Marinette would follow Adrien and Lila besides jealousy.
And for some reason Marinette wont..go to Alya as Ladybug just to inform her Lilas not her friend or something. It could be solved really easily but Marinettes extra for no reason.
