Set in episode Weredad.
Another day, another akuma.
One Marinette did not want destroying her bedroom. And one she could have absolutely stopped, if it wasn’t for Chat Noir hounding her for kisses once more.
She knew miraculous ladybug fixed everything at the end of the battle, but the absolute indifference -no, the smirk on Chat’s face, since he was still touching her- he had regarding her, Marrinette’s, room being destroyed sickened her.
Didn’t he remember her helping him during Evillustrator? Didn’t he care about her at least a little bit? No, scratch that- he should be trying to save her even if he didn’t have any affiliation with her. He was a hero, for Pete’s sake, or at least he was supposed to be. Not some kind of creep, demanding kisses and dates at every opportunity.
She really wanted to tell him to piss o-
Ice cold dread made it’s way to her stomach. No, what would he do then? Harass her more? It’s not as if she could just take his ring; she had no authority over Fu’s choices, and even if she disagreed, she was sure Fu would not be happy to hear that; after all, he was over a hundred years old. He wouldn’t take kindly to a child questioning him.
Before she knew it, the battle was over, and Chat Noir let her go to maintain a pristine image in front of August’s mother.
She left almost immediately, and detransformed, her eyes glazing over. Why did she let him walk over her? No, no, she did tell him a lot of times to knock it off, but then why didn’t he?
She had no time to think about why, because Chat appeared on her balcony for seemingly no good reason.
“What are you doing here?” He asked, as if it wasn’t her line to say.
“It’s my balcony. You, Chat noir,” she said in a scathing tone, “are not welcome here”.
She saw his eyes widen in shock, and couldn’t help but feel satisfied. The icy dread turned into blazing anger in her stomach, and blinded by its heat, she wondered why she had not done this more drastically before.
“Meowch, purrincess, what have I done to deserve-”
“You let me die, you absolute asshole! I should have known by now that you weren’t fit to be a hero.”
He stood there, apparently overwhelmed. He was clearly not used to being righteously mad at. However, he got over his shock quickly, and loomed over her with a leer.
“Marinette. You don’t mean that-”
“If you don’t leave, I’ll scream for my parents and they’ll come”.
“Why?”
“Because I feel uncomfortable in your presence and you are trespassing on my property.”
Cold. Icy. Straight to the point. The way Ladybug would never act towards Chat Noir because of her fear of losing him as a so-called partner.
Marinette did not have a partner to lose.
Her parents got on her balcony- had they been listening?- with their mouths slightly agape and their eyebrows furrowed. Chat took one look at Tom’s hulking figure and at Sabine’s defensive pose and fled.
In her parent’s arms, she gritted her teeth, and right then and there, she decided; if one side of her coin could not hate Chat Noir, then the other would make up for that.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng would be the one to expose Chat Noir as the selfish fraud he is, and if she lost a debilitating crush in the process?
Good.
