Alya is a bae (I spelled her name wrong in the tags fml)
Gender and Sexuality: CisFemale, Pansexual
Birthplace and Birthdate: Kirkwall, 3rd of Ferventis, 9:07 Dragon
Guilty Pleasures: Orlesian anything. She hates Orlesians and how they treat her people, but she’s fascinated by everything else. She was ecstatic when her brother actually agreed to bring her with him when he went to the Winter Palace to stop the assassination. The Game is another thing she found herself interested in, much to her brother’s annoyance.
Phobias: The undead. She really couldn’t give less of a shit about not being allowed to accompany her brother to the Fallow Mire or to Crestwood. And when Solas brought her to Crestwood later on in the scene, he had to reassure her 50000 times that they were gone. Also demons, though it’s not as bad. She’s always a little afraid that she’ll end up an Abomination one day.
What They Would Be Famous For: Sneaking into big fancy events where she isn’t allowed, especially ones where an elven presence isn’t welcome.
What They Would Get Arrested For: Same. She’s a sneaky little shithead and she’ll go anywhere. Usually she doesn’t get caught.
OC You Ship Them With: If I shipped her with anyone, it’d probably be with Nieriel Mithraellyn. She’s a smol city elf in Kirkwall, and she had accompanied Alya to Ferelden to join the Inquisition. These two argued so much while they traveled together and they ended up such good friends by the time they finally got to Haven. Her brother returned from Redcliffe Castle to find the two of them hanging out in the cavern, while Nieriel talked shit about Solas.
OC Most Likely To Murder Them: Victoria Abendstern. She does not like elves, or dwarves, or mages, or anything not human. She grows out of this eventually as she grows as a character, but she’s still a piece of shit tbqh. But I love her.
Favorite Movie/Book Genre: Alya is fascinated by the history books that the Inquisition is collecting. There are many days that she would simply lounge around the library reading any books that had just arrived. Sometimes she’d have discussions about history with Dorian. Later when she decided to actually talk to Solas instead of listening to all the bad things her brother & best friend said about him all the time, she began spending a lot of time in the rotunda so he could tell her about everything he had seen in the Fade.
Least Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: She actually hates the idea of ‘true love’ and ‘happily ever after’. Romance always seemed very much out of reach. It’s part of the reason was actually just as hesitant as Solas was when they first started their relationship. Dorian and Bull had the help the two of them along. It tore her apart when he dumped her, especially because it was so soon after she had finally believed that maybe romance wasn’t such a bad thing, and that she was fortunate to have met Solas. Was even worse when Solas twisted the knife two years later, after he revealed himself to Ronan as Fen’Harel. Bastard couldn’t even face her and say anything himself.
Talents and/or Powers: Alya is a mage, but for the most part she’s resisted learning much about her magic. She can control it, and she knows how to protect herself from demons, but beyond that she’d rather not learn. She’s learned a few simply defensive spells at Solas’s insistence, and is good with healing spells and barriers. Since she was too cautious with her magic, Bull had insisted on teaching her how to fight using a weapon, and so she learned how to use a sword and shield. Cassandra helped. She also picked up a few things from Leliana about dual-daggers, though she isn’t the best with them.
Why Someone Might Love Them: Alya is fiercely loyal, loves those she cares about with every bit of her heart, and will do anything in her power to help them and/or keep them safe.
Why Someone Might Hate Them: Fear clouds her judgement. When she first arrived in Haven, she was only too quick to agree with Vivienne that mages were dangerous and should be locked away in Circles. Shit, Alya would have gone to a Circle instead of staying with Clan Lavellan if her father and Ronan hadn’t given up everything to keep her out of it. Naturally, this had caused plenty of conflict with Dorian, Solas, and her brother. She’s also very, very stubborn when it comes to her beliefs. It was near impossible to convince her that the Circles were shit and the Templars were assholes.
How They Change: Thanks to everyone she meets in the Inquisition, and all the friends she makes, Alya begins to accept who she is. During the Exalted Council, she had even expressed interested in embracing her magic and learning more about how to use it. She was hardened after the events of Trespasser, torn once she realized that her ex was actually the Dread Wolf. It only got worse when he brother told her that he believed Solas was beyond redemption, and that he planned on killing him. This inspired her to go against her brother for the first time as she began searching for a way to change Solas’s mind; she learns that she doesn’t always have to stand with her brother, or even listen to him.
Why You Love Them: I like that Alya grows and learns how to stand on her own. Her opinions and outlook change, how she sees herself changes, and she’s stronger in the end. She falls down a lot but always gets back up again.
