This fic takes place a couple years after the main continuity but the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous aren't handed out and Shadowmoth (in this fic using this name all the way through because it's just better, Gabriel) hasn't appeared yet. Paris remained peaceful and without a super scene for 2 extra years, so a lot of the most forced conflicts in the show never happened and a lot of other ones were resolved differently.
This status quo changes when Marinette, after another fashion contest for Gabriel Agreste, accidentally takes home a piece of jewellery she doesn't own. A small multicoloured brooch with a crack running down the centre.
I'm also changing the Snake a little because it just being more time travel sucks. It's still a knowledge based power but not groundhog-day-ing fights until the protagonists win. That's BS. The star ship will be Adrien/Marinette/Alya, though even with two years of character growth Mari is still a bisexual disaster so who knows if she'll ever actually be able to ask ‘em out.
