Was at a cousin's party today. Nothing worthy of note, BUT. I did see a cool caterpillar!

It's an American Dagger Moth caterpillar. I didn't touch it, though, since fuzzy caterpillars typically mean they're toxic.

Still, pretty cool.

i’d like you all to meet lemon pepper!

we found him this morning right on our neighbour’s doorway, at first we just wanted to move him to our bushes so he wouldn’t get knocked off. however, after i looked him up to see his species, we discovered that he was simply an american dagger moth larvae! as far as my understanding goes, american dagger moth larvae can cause allergic reactions. we had just finished letting a few monarch butterflies go, so we decided to let lemon pepper have a nice, safe home with plenty of food for him to cocoon in! we’ve added plenty of leaves and a large twig for him to climb up when he’s ready! i’ll do my best to remember to post updates about him when he cocoons and when he emerges! (pictures of him under the cut!)

(his leaves are at the bottom of the enclosure, we’ll be researching more on what he might need!)
