When Jowan and Amral first become friends

Despite my mage entering the Circle at an older age, I’ve always kept the timeframe the same as it would have been for any other Warden origin. So, where the mage warden would usually be a year younger or the same age as Jowan when they became friends, my mage entering the Circle at the same time any other warden would have is 7 years older than Jowan when they first meet (if we go by the belief that Jowan is 6, making Amral 13).

That doesn’t change the budding friendship, really. Amral was an absolute shut in and corner hugger when he entered the Circle. He didn’t really want to speak with anyone, nor could he entirely understand most conversation with his older dialect and native tongue being so different. Jowan, being the sweetheart he is (as well as probably lonely and outcast himself) gathers up the courage to interact with Amralime eventually. The elder boy is quick to grow fond of baby blood mage’s attempts to be friendly and they eventually become inseparable from one another.

Jowan makes up learning language games when he realizes Amral doesn’t understand a lot of what people say, and they learn how to read together. Amralime likes to sing, so he teaches Jowan all the songs he can remember. Jowan really likes playing with magic and so Amral teaches him everything he can about that too. At night, when Jowan is feeling exceptionally lonely or Amralime has had a particularly bad nightmare, they crawl into the other’s bed and cuddle up together. Eventually they don’t even need a reason and simply hop into one another’s bed come nightfall. Sometimes other kids tease them or make fun of them, but Jowan doesn’t get much of a chance to feel embarrassed before Amral is turning the situation on its head and making the other kids feel like the idiots for not having a cuddle buddy.

Jowan is a wonderer, always thinking of the ‘whys’ and ‘what ifs’ and Amral is a mischievous investigator, which always leads to a ‘lets find out’ and ‘itll be fun’. This usually gets them in trouble with the Templar’s (namely Greagoir) but Irving and most other mages are secretly thankful for the bit of life it brings into their never changing tower.

I really liked the colour base that came out of these two photo’s, so I kept them. I’ve always wanted to get around to posting them somewhere.

And I mean, fuck, did I ever work hard on that bastard. I don't know what it says about me as a player or how many times I must have restarted this blasted game, that I had most of his positive dialog memorized and was able to gain his approval rather easily....;;; I'm sure that says I'm pretty pathetic, but whatever, I'm satisfied that he loves me again. Outside of Zevran, I don't think there's anyone else in the game I invest so much time into.
