JV very obviously jokingly went "James." As a joke, I mean very much so, person complained that's like one of their childhood crushes jokingly and JV went "yeah definitely James then". So like a ton of the fandom saw that and RAN with it. If The Nexolord is anywhere and named he's named James.

Funnily enough someone asked like seriously if his name is actually can only james and JV went "that's the joke one. Nate was the intended one but still unused" which is so funny because nobody calls him Nate. That is James right there."

I think my absolute favorite part of this is that neither of those feel right. Like, sure dude, the children of Omnicron. You got Merida, Ulrich, Fenrir, Nadine, and James. Like, on the one hand, this does not at all fit the style of the other children. On the other, his is literally the only name that fits in with humans.

It’s funny I go through these phases where I want to draw everything digitally and then everything traditionally and it’s like my hand stops working on one so I gotta switch to the other. I feel like this happens every fall. Maybe it’s my brain whispering “inktober soon” in the back of my head.

Speaking of INKTOBER IS SOON. And dammit I’m going to do it! I’ve only ever completed it once before but I have attempted many times. I am hoping for complete round two this year. Fingers crossed!!

Answering Risen Child Mun Asks

@anacharafan​ - Tagging you in the post and the tags as well as using a screencap so you might potentially see this answer outside of the @RisenChild blog.

@RisenChild is a story that expands on the original canon. Due to the nature of it being a game with tons of options, as well as a bunch of fourth wall breaks, not every single potential variant of an action will have happened when this is distilled into a written and drawn narrative. That said, given that we are exploring the game post-pacifist, yes, the boss fight with Asriel happened exactly as it did in the game.

Given what I’ve seen of Chara’s defense online, I'll go one step further and counter two of the biggest points of contention here.

First, the flashback was Asriel’s memories. They were dredged up due to the fight and how emotionally charged it was. Poor Asriel...

Second, the narrative quote, “But... Maybe, with what little power you have... You can SAVE something else.” These were Frisk’s thoughts, not Chara’s.

As we have shown in a recent ask, Frisk has thoughts in the second person. This is because @NeonMouko and I subscribe to a variant of the Narrator Chara theory, which has no name so I’m dubbing it The Two Paths Narration Theory.

Undertale was all about going through the pacifist or the no mercy paths. “Walk not the middle road,” and what not. Two endings, two routes, two main humans who are the faces of the paths. If Frisk’s behavior blends into Chara’s when going down the no mercy route, then perhaps the same is true for their inner monologue as well.

Mouko and I feel this explains the holes in the Narrator Chara Theory better, but that’s just our interpretation of events. Don’t let us tell you what theories you can subscribe to. That’s the beauty of this game. ;)

So, in our interpretation of events (Risen Child) that specific quote was Frisk’s own thoughts, not Chara’s. We feel it makes the scene more powerful that Frisk pulled through with her own determination to save the world.
