Ancient Sundial

In ancient times, digital clocks had yet to be invented. However, during the day, come civilizations were still capable of being able to tell time through the use of sundials.

Throughout the day, the position of the sun would change in the sky. For example, in the middle of the day, the sun was at its highest. Thus, a shadow would be cast from left to right onto the stone sundial to determine what time of day it was. Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome were some of the few early civilizations known to use such devices.
