Good Bad Kinda Fairytale and SethKate post-season one with kinda-a-werewolf-but-not-really!Seth! for the WIP ask game! (and any of that superpowered S1 AU if you want too, because it sounds so freaking cool! 💖
@yossariandawn asked this, incase Tumblr is still being stupid.
Good Bad Kinda Fairytale: I have very little of this one actually written, but! (it’s also kind of a soulmate AU, or at least the closest I’ve ever gotten.... except for one idea that I may or may not go with, but it’s more Richie/Kisa (+Malvado) focused with reincarnation and Kate being an old soul... idk, it’s an idea I have floating around.)
In a world where Bad people can tell their True Loves/soulmates/whatever you want to call them the moment they meet them, while the Good need a little, er, sexual connection to confirm things, a genetic test at birth to see which trait you have is standard. It was no surprise when Kate was born Good, with a long family history of Good people how could she not. Kyle’s convinced they’re a match, Kate... less so, but still, she’s willing to give it shot and see if they are meant to be. But before her and Kyle can seal the deal, she she meets Seth, under less than stellar circumstances, who takes one look at her and immediately start cursing up a storm. She has no idea what she’s done to piss him off, or why he won’t leave her alone when her very existence seems to anger him, but she finds herself unable to be too disappointed he’s sticking around either.
kinda-a-werewolf-but-not-really!Seth: Lupes are a group of people born with a lupine gene sequence that gives them some wolf-like characteristics, but they don’t actually transform on the full moon, so they’re not really werewolves... They also don’t have predestined mates or anything, but their heightened senses allow them to pick out those they are compatible with real quick, and their instincts once they find said someone....
They say 80% of human communication is done without speaking. For the lupe’s this is even higher. It’s why Jenny had had one conversation with Jacob and declared him hers. They were mated before the end of the week and married a month later.
He may be human, but Jenny wasn’t. And Jacob sees how Seth looks at his baby girl, sees the way his nose twitches, body turning towards her, and a growl rumbling in the back of his throat when she disappears from his sight, and he knows.
But absolutely none of that is in the fic I actually wrote! I wrote the moment directly following them driving off, long after Kate realizes what is happening and has agreed. Hell, she asked him if he wanted company, knowing full well that this was her saying she was signing up. They’ve been put through the ringer, stressed beyond max, and this is most definitely a rash decision, but oh well. She’s survived a temple full of vampires and losing her entire family in one sweep, she can handle mating to a man she met less than twenty-four hours ago.
snippet that’s not actually in the fic because I set its after season one (there’s no Kate/Richie kiss in this, but there is an almost bite between Kate and Seth in its place):
His eyes look and seem to pin over her shoulder, and she doesn’t have to turn around to know Seth’s behind her. Can almost feel him there, the way he seems to focus so much on her, all that wild, crackling energy brushing against her in a way she can almost physically feel and leaving her hyperaware of him back.
“You lost, brother?”
She can’t help but jerk her gaze to Richie, watching the way he smiles knowingly and with that mocking edge that almost cruel in its sharpness.
“Or do you finally know what you’re really after?”
“Beat it, Richard.” There’s a trace of a rumble just underneath his words, rough and almost raw, and Kate fights a shiver.
Richie leaves without a word, without even glancing at the girl he was just begging to stay, to see the beauty in this cheap place of sin and debauchery. Kate doesn’t watch him leave, doesn’t turn around until after she hears the soft rustle of fabric as he closes the curtain behind him, leaving her alone with his brother. Or at least as alone as he can in a place like this.
