i've been waiting for gravity falls to become relevant again so i could share one of my favorite underrated bits from the entire show. like it's only episode 2 but this whole segment just makes me lose my shit. i think jason ritter's exasperated line delivery is what makes it
Bruh, Robert only being written as the top/dom after it's revealed that his dick Isn't Actually That Small is like if you only wrote him winning a superhero fight after revealing he's secretly had powers the whole time
What's hot about Robert is that he WORKS WITH WHAT HE'S GOT and he isn't ashamed, or in denial, and he doesn't let people put him down about himself! He does not care! He has no powers, he has daddy issues, he has a small dick- see if any of that stops him from going all out. It WON'T.
i keep seeing redesigns of them as humans so i decided to throw my hat into the ring
disorganized thoughts on deltarune AUs
(i'll still post that defernull tenna au word vomit i have.)
I find it funny how many people love primehood and makes jokes about primes 4th wall awareness but people don’t focus enough on the fact that Jason is super meta as well.
Like there is a panel where Jason talks about turning 53 (which would be his real world age given his 80s continuity). Like there are so many small bizarre instances of Jason alluding to his real world characterization and impacts but like done in almost the same way I would expect a seer or conduit might.
Bro basically does a soliloquy to the audience like in a Shakespeare play. Only he doesn’t know there is an audience.
I think it would be super funny if Jason said some meta shit unprompted and it throws Prime off.
Jason: me and Bruce don’t work. Like him admitting he’s wrong would break the universe and that can’t happen.
Prime (squinting his eyes): yeah.. something like that.
Or
Jason: I had a dream that none of this was real. That no matter what I do I don’t have any control. I’m not the one writing my own story. I’m just a character for others amusement.
Prime (doing a double take): the $@&!
Jason: It’s probably nothing.
Prime: it’s definitely something!
And possibly
Prime: that’s what you get for crawling out of your coffin.
Jason: I’m not sure if that’s what happened. It’s all so muddled anymore. Who’s to say what actually brought me back.
Prime (Turing to the reader) you seeing this chat?
And of course
Jason: I feel like people are always hoping my down fall. Like if you put my life in the peoples hands the would vote to kill me off.
Prime: ….
Prime: who the fuck told you!
Prime: do you know about the readers too?!
Jason:??
imn going insane working on these massive stupid comics here are some horribke doodles from a few weeks ago
my beloved squad of characters with dynamics that i pulled out of my magic hat with not a single meaningful interaction across the entire franchise. it actualluy occured to me just how random this character lineup its literally just me smashing all my favourite characters together like toys and BUDDYYYYYYYY AM I HAVIBG THE TIME OF MY LIFE i need this comic finished so bad. im goibg insane
A ton of people in HTTYD have monikers, i.e. Stoick the Vast, Gobber the Belch, Dagur the Deranged, etc. I think Hiccup should have one too. And not anything like Hiccup the Dragon Tamer, naw that's too pedestrian.
And it's clear as the series progresses that he's not the first viking to refuse to kill a dragon or to ride one, and while he's is the only one to push for that change Archipelago wide instead of keeping it a secret/Berk only like many of the other tribes [Wing Maidens, Defenders of the Wing, his mom, etc.]
He did it through months and years of sheer determination and grit. It was work to get vikings and dragons on the same page. The peace he fought tooth and nail for came with days and nights of fighting and being as ruthless with his ambitions for peace as Viggo claimed him to be. Viggo was right, Hiccup is ruthless, just not violently so, Hiccup sets a goal and accomplishes it hell or high water.
He set out to shoot down a Night Fury? He did it. Made a goal to learn/befriend said dragon. He did it. Kill the Queen? Done. Show his village dragons aren't so bad when they're not also fighting for survival? It took a few, heh, hiccups, but he got there! Defeat the Dragon Hunters? Hell yeah he did.
The most important character trait Hiccup has in my opinion, is despite being a hiccup, despite being small and weak and overall not good at the tradition viking way, despite all the cards stacked up against him from even before he was born [he was premature!!!] he never gave up. If a plan didn't go his way, he pivoted, came from it at a different angle, got advice from those who listened [Toothless, Astrid, Gobber, his dad, etc], he learned and tried again.
One would say he was relentless. Ruthless.
I personally think his viking moniker should be Hiccup the Relentless - though I am partial to Hiccup the Ruthless. These words conjure up a violent picture, and it would be funny narratively speaking for enemies/strangers to look at the green bean and go "Relentless? Ruthless? Lol, I can snap him like a twig!" and they would be right, you can snap him like a twig [just gotta get passed Toothless to do it lol]. Most important it could be an in-joke to him and his allies/friends. Hiccup is those traits, just not violently so. He's kind, compassionate, empathetic, and always there with a helping hand because that's just who Hiccup is.
extra points if Snotlout says it as a joke/jab and the twins pick it up and it somehow sticks. Extra bonus points if Hiccup hates it/is annoyed by it at first, but it grows on him.
