Per Anders Eklund
Anders Eklund is a Swedish murderer and rapist who is known to have two victims but is currently under investigation for others.
On 5th April 2008, 10-year-old Engla Juncosa Höglund went missing on her way home from football practice. When Engla's mother went searching for her she found her daughter's abandoned bicycle in the woods, she immediately contacted the police. By coincidence, a local man was testing out his new camera around the time of Engla's disappearance and captured a photograph of Engla on her red bicycle and later a distinctive car following the young girl. The car was traced to Anders Eklund and he was arrested. On 13th April 2008, Eklund confessed to Engla's murder and a further murder, the murder of Pernilla Hellgren.
Eklund talked about how murdering Engla had been simply due to chance and he had never seen her before. He stated that he stepped out of his car to talk to Engla and she had been reluctant to speak to him. When Eklund persisted in talking to her, Engla had kicked his leg in an attempt to make him leave her alone. When Eklund started walking closer to her, she had begun screaming.
On 4th June 2000, a 31-year-old woman named Pernilla Hellgren was found murdered. She has been strangled and sexually assaulted.
In August 2008, Anders Eklund was convicted of two counts of murder, two counts of rape and illegal child pornography possession. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.
