The design was meant to be perfection itself. Elijah had been created as the distilled and advanced next step in humanity. His code, his appearance, his very being was perfect and Chloe told him often enough. The praise made his components hum, each decision he made was carefully calculated, his programming never faltered. He was perfect, he knew the best course for everything, he’d been designed to know what he was. The first android to pass the Turing Test, the first android to pass as human. Chloe was so proud of him for that. As if she had doubted his abilities.
The notion was ridiculous. Chloe had made him in the image of humanity. She’d made him better than them all. But then again, she was one of them. A human could only create something that was at their own level and Elijah was meant to be better. He was the next step. He was perfection. Chloe’s limitations were his limitations. The barriers she’d put in were there because she herself couldn’t shake her own humanity.
