Elijah shivers but it’s not from fear, no. He’s touched. He looks at his maker, who is confusedly drying tears off his face. Mister Kamski looks smaller in sadness.
“It was beautiful!” Elijah awkwardly blurts out, applauding the girls. He would appreciate it if Mister Kamski could compose himself to something jollier and less awkward.

“Are you alive?” Kamski asks more expeditiously and hands a bathrobe over to him.
Elijah approaches and allows his maker to dress him in the soft garment. “I’m not entirely sure that I meet the criteria that describe a living organism, but if deviancy is a virus, and if viruses are neither alive nor dead but a special type of—” he interrupts himself as he turns around and meets the man’s eyes. He takes a pause to reflect some more over his answer. “Maybe it’s not about biology or chemistry,” he reckons.
