Tower, Truro "Anglican" Church, Fairfax City, 2025.
Among with congregations of several other old line Episcopalian Churches nearby, Truro has decamped to the so-called evangelicals and their hate mongering even while claiming to be upholding tradition and gospel. They claim to use and follow the King James Bible and the Book of Common Prayer (old edition), and they call themselves Anglicans (no relation to that church in Canada or the world Anglican community), though their theology is closer to that espoused by Jerry Falwell's Liberty University and other hate-mongering cults than to that put forth by the Archbishop of Canterbury. These so-called Anglicans in the US have joined with anti-diluvian, self-proclaimed "Anglican Christian" cults in Africa and elsewhere to ban women as priests or bishops and gays and others they view as "deviant" becoming full-fledged members. Women, gays and other non-conforming types have been welcomed into the Episcopal church and into the worldwide Anglican communion based on the traditional Church of England with the Archbishop of Canterbury as its titular leader. One is reminded of the schisms in the Russian Orthodox church prior to the Revolution where "old line believers" maintained and promoted odious traditions.
The Church of England said Wednesday that it would reconsider the traditional use of masculine pronouns to describe God, floating gender-neutral alternatives to "He" and "Our Father."
Heretics
A majority of English Anglicans now back same-sex marriage, despite the Church of England's refusal to perform or bless them.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who helped lead the movement that ended white minority rule in South Africa, has died at age 90, the country's president said Sunday.
Might write a full essay someday but if you or your parents are church goers protestant or catholic: your tithe money went to residential schools, goes to fake pregnancy clinics, goes to abusive foster homes and carehomes, supports outreach that is not about helping people without conversion, money gets used for personal luxuries coverups and lawsuits. You can demand change from your church by withholding tithes (get them to butt out of secular matters such as schools and hospitals) or you can change denominations. This isn't your ancestors, this is your family giving a tenth of their money to people who commit crimes against humanity. Your family will resist change, your beloved church will either stall with false promises or push you out. If you have any faith or any self respect you'll push the boundaries and find out what kind of empty gestures your church does in the face of dead kids.
ffff not the toaster in the cupboard 😭😭 i feel like catholic!emmett is such an untapped goldmine
Listen I headcanon Carlisle as Catholic too because his level of shame and guilt just points to it. But if we’re going by canon he’s Anglican so would put that toaster away while Emmett’s Catholic self would keep pulling it back out and putting it on the countertop. Carlisle once tried getting him to pray with him but when he said the extra bit on Our Father Emmett was like “what the fuck is this” which wasn’t very holy. Also Emmett has framed pictures of Dolly Parton and JFK in his room. And his middle name is John Paul
