Homer, Iliad 21. 391 ff :
"Ares the shield-stabber rose up against Athene with the brazen spear in his hand . . . and stabbed against the ghastly aegis with fluttering straps, which gives way not even before the bolt of Zeus' lightning. There blood-dripping Ares made his stab with the long spear."
so... that means that aegis was on the other side of Zeus' lightning at least once...
So I made myself sad by thinking of Rook writing Lucanis a letter, telling him since he wouldn't let them say they loved him before Tearstone Island they wrote it in a letter incase the worst happened and they died, so he'd still know.
And then Lucanis finding after waking up in Rooks room, because even though it both of them of the Ossuary, it smells like Rook so Spite keeps bringing him here when he falls asleep.
In the end, Maedhros is glad that Fingon died at the Nírnaeth. Because, looking back over the smoky, bloodstained ruins of Sirion, he knows where Fingon would've stood in that fight. He knows Fingon would've placed himself between Maedhros and Elwing, before she jumped. And he knows he would have cut him down.
He would've said something. "She has kids, Russo" or "she's so young" and Maedhros would've fought it, he would've. Sometimes he dreams that Fingon would understand, would bargain with her. But he knows that Elwing would never give up the Silmaril. He knows Fingon would never stand aside. And he knows the Oath will never relent
So yes. In the end, blood dripping from his hand, fire filling his gaze as he waits—in the end, he's glad Fingon died before Maedhros could kill him too.
- I feel the fandom explores a lot sabo feelings of guilt about not being there for Luffy when Ace died
- I wanna see more exploration about Sabo feelings of guilt but more about how he and Ace treated Luffy when they were younger
-before they become brothers officially by drinking the sake cups together
-Ace first meeting with Luffy, he spit on Luffy
-the other times shown through flashback they were both just annoyed/bothered by the fact Luffy wanted to hang out with them
-they tried to ditch him constantly, tied him to a tree, were more worried about their treasure getting revealed when Luffy was kidnapped/taken by the blue jam pirates
- and Luffy probably never told the crew this, because in his mind sabo & ace are perfect brothers
- he probably looks back on those moments as just regular brother bonding moments
-Sabo would give up his life to save Luffy, and the crew seen that, and same with Ace too
-when they met Ace, he was polite/protective brother
-the crew never saw the moments when they were both mean to Luffy
- and Luffy won’t even hold it against Sabo
-luffy probably looks back on it as normal brother bonding
- but Sabo I feel would feel really guilty about it when he looks back at those moments
-I can imagine the crew having a hard time hearing those stories since the Sabo they met would like give up his life to save Luffy
-they can’t imagine him intentionally causing Luffy harm/being mean to him
-I can see Luffy sharing a “funny story” involving Sabo/Ace and Luffy laughs while telling it like it’s a funny thing
-and the rest of the crew is confused, because in their minds Luffy just made up a horrible story about it his brothers and they look over to see Sabo reaction expecting him to deny it/say that never happened/Luffy remembering it wrong
-but instead Sabo looking away clearly ashamed
-and then it’s like all tense because the crew realizes “oh shit that’s true”
-and Luffy confused because in his mind everyone was happy one minute telling funny stories and he shared a funny one and now Sabo looking away in shame and everyone else looks pissed off at Sabo
- or sanji trying to have a heart-to-heart moment with luffy talking about his childhood and he reveals a moment when his brothers used to mock him/tie him up/something
-and Luffy waiting for the bad part to come but sanji just tells stuff that Luffys brother used to do to him and so he doesn’t see the big deal and just shrugs his shoulders at it
- which obviously annoys sanji since in his mind he just revealed a deep trauma and he gets short with luffy about it and luffy just replies his brothers used to do that with him what’s the big deal
- I feel this is a common feeling for siblings that grew up in dysfunctional environments
-the older siblings ends up being mean/taking out their anger on the younger sibling
-and that doesn’t make them a bad person, I don’t think Ace or Sabo are bad brothers
-but i feel there’s would just be a lot of guilt that Sabo feels about how he first treated Luffy
Waittt cause I'm thinking about how Izaak is probably so jealous of Henley and his perfect family and the happy little life he had.
Izaak comes from a broken home - his mum walked out on the family, his dad did his absolute best but struggled to make ends meet, and Izaak is one of four brothers. Henley is an only child who had alllllll the love poured just into him, from an upper-middle class family, he had a good education...
And now I'm thinking about Izaak one day confessing this to Henley???!!! About how much he envies him? Oof. Big oof!
when grace wakes up after their fishing incident and goes looking for rocky, rocky is still awake. do you think he fought unconsciousness because he wanted to make sure grace was okay before he allowed himself to pass out?
You know whats sadder than jiro feeling sick at the mention of zenji's birthday?
It's that both of zenji's most favorite people at darkwick weren't on campus the day of his birthday.....
Zenji spent his birthday without either of them... and considering the fact it was a "secret" mission, he probably went looking for them around campus but couldn't find them, and might've not even known where they were......
