Despite its position as the most well-known ankylosaurid, as well as being considered the archetypal member of ankylosauria, Ankylosaurus had some unusual features. It was among the last non-avian dinosaurs, and was possibly the largest known ankylosaurid, measuring 6 to 8 meters (20 to 26 feet) long and weighing 4.8 to 8 metric tons (5.3 to 8.i short tons). Additionally, unlike other ankylosaurs, its nostrils faced sideways, rather than to the front.

Hey, I'm struggling to find a consensus on ankylosaurid hindlimb digits. Specifically pinnacosaurus. Did it have 3 or 4?
Ankylosaurids are a family of extinct armored dinosaur. Ankylosaur means "fused lizard" and I think you can see why. They were covered in bony scutes. #Archovember Day 5 - Pinacosaurus grangeri
I chose Pinacosaurus as this year’s ankylosaurid because every single front-facing depiction of them has made me both laugh and squeal with glee. Pinacosaurus’ were absolutely WIDE LADS. They were like walking round tables but with spikes. You wanna just sit on one cross legged while it ambles around... but that would probably hurt. Anyway.
Pinacosaurus was a medium-sized ankylosaur, longer and wider than it was tall, and would have only been able to reach up to about the hip of an average human. They seemed to travel in herds, roaming from oasis to oasis in the deserts of Mongolia and China, living alongside small predators like Velociraptor. There have been no large predators from this area discovered, so it is unknown what would have, or could have, preyed on this absolute unit.

Dyoplosaurus can be distinguished from all other known ankylosaurids in that it has sacral ribs that are anterolaterally-directed, triangular unguals in dorsal view, and a tail club knob that is longer than it is wide.

Anatomically, Pinacosaurus is the most well-known ankylosaurid dinosaur worldwide. Numerous specimens have been discovered, including a nearly complete skeleton and entire bonebeds of juveniles. Due to these many finds, the entire juvenile skeleton is known, and new information on the ankylosaurid skull and how it forms as the dinosaur ages has been discovered. Finally, studies on the hands and feet of Pinacosaurus, body parts often incompletely known in other ankylosaurs, have provided insight into the family as a whole.
