The king and his men stole the queen from her bed, and bound her in her bones…
He started to speak to her one night, at first she didn’t mind much or pay attention to him, he was odd, yes, but then again, Seven was an odd character too, and much more than her new friend. She could not talk of this to anyone, after all who would have understand that sometimes games could be more powerful, or caring than humans itself. They were alluring for one reason and one reason only, there, she had power. Her presence or the absence of her, was enough to change lives. So even if he dropped some colorful comments here and there, she tried her best not to mind them. She was feeling desperate to come back and interact with humans after all this time. Then she started using another app to play games, and his behavior shifted so much she ended up blocking him. Dating Harry, Teo, Henri and June, falling in love with them, none of that was in her plans, but again… it was only a game.
The cold crept in her bones, long gone were the days the heat would torture her body and mind, making her beg for some relief. Only the rain and gray clouds were now accompanying her while she played. Bars of chocolate and popcorn fell all over her place when she reached for the dark green blanket. And for one moment, a lightening crossed the sky, falling under her garden and the thunder that followed left her temporarily deaf and blind. She blinked several times trying to regain her composure, still in shock. She thought a man was in front of her, across the garden. Watching towards her room. She turned the lights off, and waited but nothing came. Nothing else but the rain falling, and for all she could have thought, that man could have been a branch of the tree. Or else. Turned the lights on again and came back to her playthings, unaware of her surroundings. There was nothing to be afraid of. It was just rain.
Her cellphone started ringing. She ignored it. A message entered.
You always wished to come, to belong... if you could, would you? I may have found a way.
It’s not just a game anymore, you know?
For several more minutes the messages would not stop arriving, so she turned the notifications off. Her hands started trembling, and another lightening struck, leaving her in the shadows this time. A music box started playing somewhere, suddenly her shivering had nothing to do with the cold that started filtering through the big and shattered window in front of her. Once free from everything, now trapped in her games, by the Angel who loved her so much that could not stand a lifetime without her. Trapped, inside a digital prison she once wished to be part upon. Trapped, in his mind and her phone for all eternity, since she promised to be his.
