Last book: just finished a witch's guide to magical innkeeping by sangu mandanna. Highly recommend! It's a great story in its own right, but it's also obviously a takedown/critique of Harry Potter, and somehow manages to not feel like fanfic with the serial numbers filed off. The world building and magic system is good, and I really enjoyed all the characters and interactions.

i'm currently reading the stranger upstairs by lisa m matlin, which isn't as fun/cozy but the plot is interesting and i like how kind of awful the main character is -- love it when a female protagonist is kind of not a great person but still sympathetic in a way.

Last song: i haven't really been listening to that much music lately, sadly! But I did recently search youtube for I Need To Eat Tonight from Schmigadoon, which was such a good show, i mourn it to this day.  

Last Movie: lmfaoooo a friend of mine produced a movie and is submitting it for a film festival in argentina; he asked me to watch it and check out the spanish subtitles to see if they needed any tweaking. so i watched it on .75 speed bc i'm a slow reader in spanish. it was VERY strange lmfao, parts of it were very funny but it was overlong.

Last TV show: i've been rewatching castle lmfao it's cozy copaganda for sure but it's on amazon prime so i don't have to download anything and i watched it when i was younger so it feels very nostalgic and soothing. also sometimes the stories are goofy but the acting of the main characters is really good.

Last museum: Autophoto, which is technically a photobooth museum tho really it's just to take pictures in the different vintage photobooths, which is pretty cool; went with a friend after going out to dinner a few days ago.

Last concert: does the opera count? i went to see i puritani at the met last weekend -- beautiful music and set design as always, directing was a bit meh. other than that, like, actual concert -- i went to see Pulp at Forrest Hills Stadium last september. it was great tbh, even tho they didn't play my favorite song aka the chastantine anthem, "Like a Friend". jarvis cocker just has such a fantastic stage presence.

Last Meal: i made a wrap with fried chicken strips + asian dressing + spring salad mix. i'm trying not to order takeout right now bc it's so cold in nyc so i'm just cooking for myself.

Ooh, okay, how about Quil/Phi/Terry historical AU + time travel

(Whoops so behind on these but ah well! Thanks for your patience!)

Okay so I think this AU is a Quil-is-secretly-Amana AU, except set handwavey hundreds of years ago when there were still... oh, I don’t know, at least a few dozen dragons left, but the idea of hiding time was starting to be bandied about.

And Phi and Terry, possibly during the world’s most ill-fated honeymoon or possibly before they got married, get flung through a rift into the past. Either they know that Seath is actually a dragon or figure out that dangerous dragon Seath is in fact the same Seath.

They decide to Take Him to Dragon Court, allying with the other dragons, and working closely with Amana!Quil, who is all aflutter about these strange lovely future people. There is intrigue! Espionage! Flirting! Probably some pragmatic stabbing!

Framed more seriously, but it probably ends with a “Oh no, I guess just to make sure that Seath’s evil plans can never happen, you’ll have to come hide as a mortal with us in the future ;) ” “But he’s already been Sentenced by Dragon Court? Oh. Ohhhhh. Yes, I see. No choice! None at all!”

And then they retire smugly to raise some bees and babysit Quil’s grand-niece brother’s ice tiger’s kitten.

12) Favorite character to write about this year

Oh man. It’s Richie Tozier. I blame him entirely, but it’s Richie Tozier. Love that nightmare man. Honorable mentions to Eddie and to Bev and Ben, but I have a favorite and half of my goal when I’m writing IT-fic is to try not to show that on the page and be like “I love all my Losers equally.”

21) Most memorable comment/review

Well today I responded to one that said “this fic punched me in the metaphorical dick in the best way,” and that was very memorable.

And then there was the one that went through and analyzed Richie and Eddie’s character dynamic and said “the difference between ‘he ain’t hurting anyone’ and ‘I like to fight,’” which basically summed up the whole friendly-combative dynamic I was going for, which of course I loved.

And then there was the time that @pineapplecrushface ended up in my inbox and I had a starstruck moment.

And the people who pointed out to me back when I was in the process of writing Eddie Lives that I was, in fact, writing a slowburn.

And then the one who correctly identified Bucky Barnes’s cameo in Beverly Leaves and prefaced it with “this is probably not right” but they were absolutely right.

And the person who observed that Richie responds to Eddie’s refusal to calm down even a little bit by pinning him to the floor and said “I see you, Mr. Tozier.”

And the video of the dildo solemnly rolling across a luggage carousel as Mitski’s “Nobody” plays in the background.

And of course, the first comment I got on Things That Happen After Eddie Lives, which was a simple “okay, I need more of this.” Turns out I did too.

There are a lot of them and I hold them all in my heart very dearly and reread them when I don’t feel like getting up for work in the morning. The response to my impulse-fic has been phenomenal and I’ve had a wonderful time in this fandom this year.
