I hate to break it to everyone but Eddie Kaspbrak is a Karen.

Look there is nothing about Eddie- let me tell you about every health and safety code you're violating- Kasprak that doesn't add up to him storming up to the nearest employee asking for a manager at the smallest infraction.

Of course he's a little better than a Karen cause his complaints are genuinely made to protect others (though nitpicky they are).

Richie likes to think of it as Eddie's way of being the brave knight, though the dragon he's herorically saving them from is usually a small family run diner who wasn't expecting to be the target of an asthmatic american with Gordon Ramsey levels of sass telling them the smudge on his glass is the breeding ground for thousands of bacteria.

Richie watches him when he does this- stealing glances from their table to look at how frantic Eddie's fingers chop down at his hands and then at how fast his lips are moving, trying to keep up with how fast his brain can recall information. It amuses Richie every time but he can't help but admire him too.

Its only when it gets heated that Richie will remove himself from his prime viewing spot and wrench Eddie away from the poor confused employee who obviously has never heard of half the afflictions Eddie's listing and certainly isn't paid enough to listen to the alphabetized spiel on them all.

Otherwise, he sends Eddie ahead to get in the car and sneaks away to offer a monetary gift of sorts to the manager. Not as an apology though. No, this is a bribe that maybe they should listen to the short angry man's advice because he's usually right about these things.

He never tells Eddie that he does this. Instead, he returns with a stash of whatever candy they give at the front door and Eddie frowns and tells him off for 1: stealing, 2: how many cavities he's gonna get, but then he takes a piece anyways.
