The healing properties of a book that hasn’t even come out yet need to be studied
Who do you think is Thais's love interest?
Paige
Jaime
Livvy
Anush
Dru
Someone Else
Anush is just one of those perfect characters to kill off - not important to the plot at all but still significant enough to shock the fandom and hurt one of the main characters (Ty)
I think Anush is a funny phenomenon to me because him being kind of set up to being Ty's like one friend and having mentions in SOBH (not to mention art of him) and GOTSM made me think he was going to be part of the twp gang but nope, he's fr just a bg character 😭
Thought that just occurred to me…. What if the odd lack of Anush when talking about TWP is because he dies and she’s already mentally written him off?? Like with TLH I (and many others I imagine) were able to pick up on Christopher’s impending death from the way his character was written, since Cassandra Clare always knows who dies from the beginning, she has tells that influence her storytelling. characters who die are often less developed than those around them, like she unconsciously writes them out a bit before they actually die. They’re important, especially to one or two characters in particular, but not too important. They’re almost… weirdly self contained if that makes sense. Their characters are tidy, they often have One Role within the story to play & die after that’s fulfilled. They’re also usually lovable so you get attached more than their actual presence allows for; especially right before they die, they get almost a dead wife montage. etc etc. and Anush… kinda fits these tells. It also makes sense within the storyline; main characters always go through it, but two of the mains are siblings whose family has already significantly gone through it and there’s not too many characters left close to them that are disposable… but you could introduce a friend who is & still have the emotional fall out….
I’m not gonna lie, I am a bit sad about Anush not being in TLKOF cause I really wanted to see what his friendship with Ty is like 😔. I mean he is like the only friend (Kit does not count that’s his crush) he’s got outside of their siblings and friends are people you CHOOSE (unlike family) and I wanted to see what made Ty choose him.
And like Thais is Dru’s friend and she’s got a role, why couldn’t it be the same with Anush? 🤕
We’ve all heard about ‘Ty having a photo of Cirenworth on his wall because he doesn’t have any photos of Kit’ but, considering that conversation they have in Lord of Shadows, I think we need to consider the untapped potential of ‘Ty does have a photo of Kit, but it’s from the 2015/16 Hot Shadowhunters Calendar. It’s up on the wall, and Ty hasn’t changed the month since he got it.’ Livvy is still too scared to ask. Sometimes Ty takes it down and stares at it forlornly. Anush is almost certain he saw Ty crying over it once, but he’s also too scared to ask, and honestly not sure if he wants to know.
(Bonus points if Dru bought it for Ty)
