I imagine the intent behind Benny havin' a distinctive cigarette brand is that he's got some expensive and refined taste in what he smokes.

But wouldn't it be funny if it was the opposite?

Like, his cigarette brand of choice is distinct because most people absolutely hate them. Scavengers for the last two hundred years just threw them away when they found 'em because even tryin' to sell 'em wasn't worth the effort. Even desperate smokers rarely touch 'em because they have some standards.

But they were the first cigarettes Benny ever got his hands on back in his Boot-Rider days so now a few scavengers know to look for the Crap Cigarettes because some Casino Boss pays well for 'em.

The fact they were smoked at all was the evidence Benny was there for Swank.
