😭 I hate being late to/sleeping on audios SO BAD. I always end up binging them in a day, then writhing in agony because I finish the series. I slept, like I mean honk shoo minimi'd, on Bastard Warriors bc people kept saying it was good and I was saving it. And today was the day, and ts fucks SO HARD, but I'm at the end of the playlist now GAHHHJ.

This was an animation I finished a couple months ago, but the production of it went a bit sideways, so I wasn't sure if I wanted to post it anywhere or not, haha.
The beginning of this little short film was done traditionally, on paper with markers and such, shot using Dragonframe, and composited in After Effects! Here are a couple images of the Princess (the blue creature at the beginning) character's frames:
Initially, I had planned to traditionally hand draw the entire animation, but... since I was doing this for a class, I vastly underestimated how long it would take to color in all those damn frames 💀
I ended up creating a puppet for the King character (the orange character with wings) and animating him right inside After Effects with puppet pins to save some time. Here are the initial sketches I made for both characters:
As for the backgrounds, I hand drew the line art for all of them, and then colored them digitally in Photoshop :)
Everything was ultimately color corrected and stuff in After Effects, and boom! Here we are!
The story of this animation is very loosely based off a part of Madame d-Aulnoy's The Blue Bird, specifically the scenes taking place in the Chamber of Echoes! :) <3
