Watching Thunderbolts* and I’m not sure if there’s a word or better articulation for the combo of boredom and depression that Yelena’s going through [apologies I reduced it to just that] but I find I have such a strong reaction to it, as if I feel seen.
It’s like in Megamind [lol] when Metro Man lets Megamind win and they both become bored or aimless [or that’s what caused Metro Man to quit]. Something about that trope in a film has always stuck with me.
Recently, Charli XCX has created a substack in which she’s shared similar thoughts regarding the album [and cultural moment/tour] brat. I find her cultural commentary interesting. Something about her feeling this way evokes an emotion in me, but I can’t quite put my finger on it.
