A Collaboration between the Alberta Public Interest Research Group, the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services and the Edmonton Pride Festival Society

The Intersections of Queer Symposium is an attempt to create spaces for critical engagement with the complexities of LGBTQ* experiences, bodies, identities and communities. Based on a structural engagement with the intersections of queer identity, our goal is to support a series of workshops, discussions and facilitated spaces that share knowledge and facilitate collaborative learning around issues of race, class, ability, gender, mental health, spirituality, ethnicity, indigeneity, and citizenship in relation to queerness.

APIRG Board of Directors Elections: March 5-6, 2014

Its that time of year when APIRG members elect their new Board of Directors. CHECK OUT OUR CANDIDATES HERE: http://apirg.org/candidates-running-in-our-2014-2015-board-of-directors-elections/ AND OUR CANDIDATES FORUM ON MARCH 3! more details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1423579851217841/ All U of A undergraduate students who have not opted out of the APIRG fee as well as all current APIRG community members are eligible to vote. APIRG elections will happen in conjunction with the U of A Students’ Union elections on March 5 & 6. Why should I vote? Every undergraduate student and every current APIRG community member pays a small fee to APIRG every year, helping us to support campus and community projects that foster positive social change. As an APIRG member, you should have a say in who’s making the decisions about how to allocate those funds. All-Candidates Forum Tuesday, March 3 @ 5pm Location to be Announced, University of Alberta North Campus How do I vote? Undergraduate students: Option 1: Visit http://su.ualberta.ca/vote between Wednesday, March 5 @ 8am and Thursday, March 6 @ 6pm. You will be asked to enter your CCID and password as well as your student number. After voting in the Students’ Union elections you will be given the option to vote in the APIRG elections. Option 2: Visit a polling station in SUB or Campus Saint-Jean between 9am and 5pm on March 5 or 6. Elections staff will be on hand to assist you with casting your ballot or if you have accessibility needs. Polling stations are wheelchair accessible. Community members: Visit the community member voting site (URL to come) between 8am on Wednesday, March 5 and 7pm on Thursday, March 6. You will be asked to enter the voter ID that has been emailed to you by APIRG’s CRO. If you have not received a voter ID by March 3, contact [email protected]. Elections Complaints The APIRG Board Elections are conducted according to APIRG bylaws and policy as well as SU regulations. If anyone feels that these regulations have not been adhered to, they may make a complaint to the CRO by 6pm on March 6, 2014. The CRO will make a decision within 1 hour. If you feel the decision is unfair, you may appeal the decision. Appeals will be considered and ruled on by a committee consisting of two APIRG board members, a staff member and the CRO.
