Each part of the main trio could be interpreted as a god
If we start with Kim Dokja, then we have Han Sooyoung who is a priest wielding a knife, while killing a sacraficial lamb - Yoo Joonghyuk, crying, loving him. After all she practicaly raised him, but loving her god more. Yoo Joonghyuk going to his execution time and time again, willing to be offered to his god, willing to die. Kim Dokja seeing this, time after time. Looking with sad eyes, but still, finding comfort in their actions.
The most popular interpretation of this trope is with Han Sooyoung as god. After all she was the one who created everything. She is a god with her hands tied, and her mouth gagged. Unable to do anything, incapable of yelling. She act throught her angel. One she created for specific reason. The one who will get his hands dirty. She loves him, and she sends him to the worst places, because she herself can't do anything. He is bound by her act of creation, and unable to act outside of his mission. Kim Dokja. The messiah. The one god wants to oh so desperatly save. The one who is comforted by what the god created, but wishing to save the angel. One holding words of god written, the gods words being his only reality.
And finally Yoo Joonghyuk. Where Han Sooyoung is his apostole. Writing his bilble, his words, his action. Everything. Kim Dokja being his most loyal follower. One who will do anything for him. Yoo Joonghyuk being put on a pedestal, hating every second.
