🎓 Bachelors Final Week Series — Week 2 🎓

This week was filled with studying, applying for more internships, and learning more app dev. I had to record myself explaining a concept for one of the applications, which was a little nerve-wracking but I managed to do it. I worked on the app dev course and for some reason the code didn't work, so i decided to give up for now.

The only disaster so far is when I tripped on the road and hurt my back real bad 😭 I was bed ridden for half a day and the other half glued to my desk coz I couldn't walk without almost collapsing 💀

My eye is twitching over people wanting to seem like "cute girl in STEM" but lack the discipline to do so. I'm sorry, miss, "I'm ambitious, hot and in tech!" your ENTIRE application is a security risk due to being built by AI. There's little to no structure, it's not readable enough, the buttons are glitchy, it hardly functions... and you think you're on the same level as those who put in the work? No ma'am.

I can turn a blind eye to using AI for troubleshooting and small tidbits to make workflow easier. But if you're building everything using an AI, you don't like to code. You don't genuinely have interest in these things. You simply want to tout the badge of "coding girlie" with zero work. I find that quite pathetic.

I built an app to help people learn Nagamese! Looking for feedback.

I grew up in Nagaland, surrounded by Naga friends and neighbors. Although I was born in West Bengal, the culture, people, and warmth of Nagaland have always made it feel like home.

One thing I’ve observed over the years is that it can be a little tricky for visitors or non-locals to pick up Nagamese Creole, despite it being the vital lingua franca that connects the diverse tribes of the state. One main cause of this is probably the lack of resources online. I always wanted to find a way to give back to the society that gave me so much love.

🚀 So, I built "Nagamese Kobi".

It's an app to make learning Nagamese accessible, interactive, and fun. Think of it as a gamified guide, complete with lessons, quizzes, and vocabulary practice, designed to help anyone brush up on the language or start from scratch.

👨‍💻 I need your help! I am currently in the Closed Testing phase on the Google Play Store and I need help from the community to test it out. Whether you are a linguistics nerd, a local who can verify the vocabulary, or just want to try the UI, your feedback is invaluable.

A Cryptobro update.

He has gotten the idea to build an app, and a website. He's using AI to do it, for the most part. He can't code, or even do HTML; he's just using AI, and picking stuff up while troubleshooting the AI results. He's very proud of how nice the website looks already, and claims he's already learned so much just by watching the AI do things. And you know, I am willing to believe that he *is* learning things. Not cohesive things, as in, he's not building a skill, but he's definitely being exposed to a lot of concepts and info, and I'm sure it's a learning experience, of a kind. The man is an idiot but he's not unintelligent.

That said.

I asked him… so, this app, what is it going to do? What will it be? What's your use case, your business model?

He's the quintessential "idea guy" and… he doesn't even have any ideas. He goes all "eh, the app could do anything, I can make anything!" and then he… doesn't actually have any examples of what that "anything" could possibly entail.

Of course, I'm not putting aside the possibility that he's pretending to not have a plan in order to "protect" his big idea until it's ready for launch. Absolutely not putting it past him.

But…

What The Actual Fuck.

Every person I've ever known who was serious about developing an app or writing software or starting a small shop or business… has *loved* talking about their plans. Not counting big companies with NDA's and certain high competition fields, most individual humans who are creating a thing are passionate about that thing, and enthused to share its story. What is it? What does it do? Why is it valuable or useful? What made you want to make this?

But apparently, Cryptobro's big plan doesn't have a story, doesn't have a use case, doesn't have a target audience. It's all just… filler. And he talks a great deal about how the product is more important than the process, and having the idea is all you need in a world where AI can do anything, but… he doesn't even have an idea? He doesn't have a product concept that anyone would want?

The only thing he aims to do is make a thing -any thing, whatever thing- and monetize it, with as little investment on his end as possible. Nothing more.

I've known this man for half a year now and I… I still can't wrap my head around his existence. He's like a living caricature. Whenever I think I've seen the worst of it, it's like… "But wait! There's MORE!" It's baffling.

100 PROJECTS

I am inherently a lazy person. I have a million ideas in my head (and my notes app) but zero evidence of them in the real world. I have made several attempts in the past to rectify this to no avail. This time will probably be no different but here it goes anyway:

The idea is to work on and ideally finish a 100 projects before 2019 ends in 147 days.

The areas I'm looking to work at so far are:

Writing : Blog, TV writing, Screenwriting, Game writing, Novel writing, Short stories, Mini Poetry books, Songwriting.

Computer Vision : Implementing some basic applications in the field like Facial Recognition and Object Tracking.

UI/UX : Mockups and prototypes for mobile apps and websites.

Graphic Design : Reimagined posters for movies, tv shows, album covers etc, anything else I can think of.

Artificial Intelligence : Projects that will need to done as a part of my AI course in Fall and any other ideas I come up with.

Machine Learning : Projects that will need to done as a part of my AI course in Fall and any other ideas I come up with.

Mobile Application Development : Some basic apps for any of the other projects I create along the way.

Website Development : Some basic website for any of the other projects I create along the way. A portfolio website.

Graphics : Projects that will need to done as a part of my AI course in Fall and any other ideas I come up with.

Animation : Small projects that can be made by following tutorials. Maybe one short story based on a writing project if time permits.

Game Design/Development : Basic games by following along with tutorials. Games based on original ideas if time permits.

Language : Be able to carry on a conversation in a language I don't know right now. This one is a bit vague right now.

This is definitely overambitious but as long as I can complete atleast 25 projects I am calling it a success. The main goal is to develop a habit of working on projects and finding this thing called discipline along the way.

Anyone else interested in jumping along on this insane bandwagon is welcome. I would love to see other people rocking this challenge. It will be a good motivator to not quit myself!

programming is so cool because an app can start with just radio buttons and now its a whole ass working project and im just happy with my work man
