sooo i’ve been wanting to show Kpop Demon Hunters to my husband. he’s bilingual in arabic and french, but arabic is his first language. so while we often go for original language with french or arabic subs, it can be tiring for him because of his dyslexia.

so this time i was like: let’s try the arabic dub.

now, i’m indian and don’t speak a single word of arabic, but listen… it’s friday night, i’m rewatching this film i basically know by heart, and i’m just so happy watching him enjoy it.

also? the arabic dub is kinda fire 😂 (sadly they kept the english songs. i wish we got an arabic version. arabs have some insane vocals. their dbz openings? legendary.)

Just wanted to share the Egyptian Arabic dub of “Colors of the wind”

I like that she’s harsher to John Smith in the dub, she calls him mad and arrogant while the English dub goes way too easy on him (just like the movie as a whole but y’know) what I’m a bit iffy about is “this land is owned by none other than god” which is more in line with Islamic environmentalism (which I subscribe too btw) than what Pocahontas would’ve actually believed in.

“The Sun and Moon are my neighbors” goes really hard tho

Yes, but only a little bit.

The Arabic dub of Sam and Max aired on Spacetoon’s Adventure Planet on January 5, 2006 alongside other shows on different planets, such as Samurai Jack, Minky Momo, Casper and many more. The original airing of Sam and Max seemed to have lasted until at March 15 of that year, judging from a birthday advert Spacetoon made for the block:

They seem to have aired all 13 episodes of the show and either did reruns until 2009 or it was re-aired in mid-February of 2009

the highlighted parts are Sam and max, and according to this person, it aired on 17:20/5:20 pm on Monday and 9:20 am on Thursday.

Unfortunately that is all I know, at least recall. I’ll and to this post if I get more information about the dub.

The way I always end up specifically going back to the arabic dub of Mihrimah's wedding monologue. It's so haunting.

The voice actress (I sadly didn't find her name online) deserves all the awards.

And I am once again saying how clever it was to change the end of the monologue: "I am Meryem. From this day, nothing can burn me. That's it, I'm extinguished. Even if the fire was burning inside of me" (the translation doesn't do it justice it sound a lot more poetic in Arabic)

Something I thought my empowered & feminist Disnerd fellas might like

Lately, I've come across the song "I'll Make a Man Out of You" from the Disney classic (Mulan 1998), in its original language (English)!

While doing so, I found out that you guys listen to (supposedly, the forces general Shang is training) chanting "Be a man!" throughout the song. While that makes sense, given the name of the song, that wasn't what it said in the version I've been watching!

I grew up listening to that song & watching the dubbed version in my own language & dialect. That song used to be & still is very empowering to me.

Yet maybe the reason behind it, besides having the VAs perfecting the performance, was the changes in lyricism, making it more about "Persistence" (which is an alternative title of the song) & how acquiring consistency earns you sought-after qualities rather than (being a man)

So, I thought maybe demonstrating through the song itself would explain that better than I would:
