Okay, but consider this:

MCU Peter Parker was raised in a waaaayyy different culture to the original comic version. So when he was deciding to hide his identity, it was to protect himself and those close to him, and, yes, make sure his enemies couldn’t tell he was afraid. But the other reason? When this child got super powers and made himself a costume to fight crime, he had to keep who he was a secret, because every single person in his generation had it drilled into their heads. Between X-Files, Race to Witch Mountain, Area 51, the History Channel, Lab Rats, Monsters Vs. Aliens, Buzzfeed Unsolved, and a billion other sources, no self respecting 21st century child would ever want the government to find out about their freaky mutant powers. They would come in and ship him off to some obscure facility, and do tests, and ensure it looked like he never even existed.

And to a dork like Peter or Ned? That’s just common sense. Plus, SHIELD exists. You know that there are tons of conspiracies about the shady government branch that exists especially to clean up after alien messes. That’s real in the MCU. And you know dorks like Peter and Ned watch that shit and debate it all the time. So Peter honest to God felt he had no choice but to have a secret double life, just like every other “regular guy gets amazing powers” ever. That’s my Ted Talk, thanks for listening.
