After watching TDP S5 I can't help but think about that one tumblr user who back in S1-2 theorized about the scene between Aravos and Viren with the caterpillar being an analogy/metaphor for bodily exchange/intercourse

They must be feeling amazing knowing they were fucking right!!!!

I don’t think people realize the atrocities I will forgive a fictional villain for.

Aravos? Forgiven. They shouldn’t have killed his daughter.

Dracula? Forgiven. They shouldn’t have killed his wife.

Dabi? Forgiven. His father shouldn’t have been allowed to keep custody OR keep having kids.

Jinx? Forgiven. She was a child who suffered horrific trauma. The adults failed her.

Crowley? Forgiven. I love him. Enough said.

Azula? Again. A child who suffered abuse and trauma. The adults failed her.

So many more I could list, and I would forgive them all. Literally the only lines I have is don’t commit SA and have one (1) person you love more than anything else and I will forgive horrific war crimes. Or be an abuse survivor who finally snapped, and I will be on the sidelines with popcorn and support. I will never NOT love the villains who are well written. Because I can relate to them far more than I can the heroes, usually.

Idk, give me villains any day.

Theory time!

I think Aravos murdered the entire startouch elves council, I think this is the horrific crime he was imprisoned for.

In season 6 we learned two things; startouch elves don't tolerate humans doing magic and only startouch elves can really kill startouch elves. But if this is true why they haven't already executed Callun? Or why they allow humans to practice dark magic? or why spare Aravos life after he teach dark magic to humans if they murdered his child for that? They wouldn't!

So I think he murdered all of them, and the remaining powers in Xandia unable to kill Aravos themselves did the next best thing, imprisoned him.
